Automatic audible and visual flow switch alarm system for emergency safety shower. With 1.8 m (6 ft) cable.
This alarm system is water-resistant and entirely insulated and grounded. It meets NEMA NO. 3R standards and is CSA approved. The horn and the strobe light are UL listed.
This alarm system can be added to any existing emergency safety shower, either alone or combined with an eyewash or facewash station. It requires a water supply of 30 GPM (114 liters/minute) and a power supply of 120 V and 15 A. The alarm system must be connected to an alarm panel and a circuit breaker. Suitable for indoors or outdoors installation.
This alarm system is based on a flow switch installed on the emergency shower’s water supply pipe. This flow switch is connected to a horn and to a strobe light with an easy-to-connect, waterproof 1.8 m (6 ft) cable. The flow switch activates the audible and visual alarm when the flow in the water supply pipe exceeds 2 GPM (7.6 liters/minute), whether it is for the drench shower or for the eyewash or facewash station. The flow switch is constructed of brass and should be protected from corrosion by being installed within a wall, in a cabinet, etc.
The audible alarm rings through a horn that is adjustable between 78 dB and 103 dB at 10 feet (3 m). The horn is installed above the emergency shower and is aimed away from the shower user. The visual alarm is given by an amber strobe light, installed above the horn. A switch mounted on the side of the emergency shower allows to turn off the audible alarm when needed, without stopping the water flow nor turning off the visual alarm.
This alarm system is very easy to maintain as it contains no moving parts.
