This polyester hood is fully coated with high-quality PVC to make it 100% waterproof. The manufacturer ensures that the PVC has a thickness of 0.45 mm. The manufacturer grants this product a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm, i.e. it can withstand the pressure of a 10 m water column. A waterproof rating is granted when a material has been tested under the pressure of a cylinder filled with water, in this case, 10 m high of water. This height defines the limit at which the material stops being resistant and water starts passing through.
All seams have been taped and heat-sealed. This hood is ideal for everyday use in extreme conditions, since it is completely watertight. It is recommended for any worker working away from any motorized vehicles.
PVC is well-known to be resilient; it can withstand stretching as well as wear and tear. The advantage of having a PVC coating is that it ensures a perfect waterproofing even with high winds. PVC pushes away water allowing workers to go about their business without having concerns about water leaking through their coat. PVC is, however, heavier than polyurethane, it is not breathable, and it hardens in colder weather.
Water-resistance:
The airtightness of this hood comes from its double sewn, taped and heat-sealed seams. PVC-lined waterproof safety wear is usually worn by workers who may be exposed to remote or moderate risks of chemical splashes. PVC is a thermoplastic polymer which offers resistance to chemicals, oils, greases, acids, alkalies, solvents, oxidants, and ozone. PVC is also resistant to wear and
PVC-coated clothes are recommended for workers that work in environments where the temperature varies between -5 °C and 18 °C accompanied by showers and strong winds. This rainwear keeps workers dry during heavy rains because PVC is absolutely non-porous; it is, however, absolutely not breathable which may cause a sauna effect through perspiration. One must thus choose wisely what to wear underneath according to the efforts required.
Maintenance:
This hood should always be machine-washed in a delicate setting with cold or lukewarm water, and a gentle soap. Never use bleaching agents or fabric softeners on this coat. It should also be air-dried in a sheltered spot out of direct sunlight. Never tumble dry, iron or dry clean this raincoat.
