The 3M Solus safety glasses are designed to meet the needs of professionals working in high-risk environments. Thanks to their gray polycarbonate lenses, they provide excellent impact protection while reducing glare outdoors. The Scotchgard anti-fog coating ensures clear vision even in humid environments or those subject to temperature fluctuations. These protective glasses are compliant with CSA Z94.3 and ANSI Z87.1, making them a reliable choice for the industrial, manufacturing, and construction sectors.
These lightweight, unisex glasses are made of polycarbonate, a material resistant to impacts. This smoked (gray) lens model is ideal for alternating between outdoor and indoor use while protecting against dust, particles, and projectiles. These lenses protect against UVA and UVB rays with 99.9% efficiency. The Scotchgard coating is integrated into the lenses for added durability. The glasses can be washed up to 25 times without affecting the quality of the coating.
These glasses feature black and blue patterned arms made of polycarbonate. The ends of the arms are made of flexible thermoplastic rubber. The nose pads are made of flexible PVC and can be adjusted for better comfort.
In accordance with ANSI Z87.1 standards, the arms of these glasses are marked with the 3M Z87+ stamp and the lenses with the 3M+ U6 stamp. These markings indicate that the glasses have passed a high-velocity impact resistance test and a high-mass impact resistance test.
• The high-velocity impact resistance test (ANSI Z87 basic standard) is performed with a 6.4 mm (¼ inch) steel ball launched from 46 m (150 feet) at the mannequin at a speed of 164 km/h (102 mph). To pass the test, the lenses must remain in their frame, must not fracture or touch the mannequin’s eye by deforming, and no part must detach inside the glasses. This test assesses the integrity of the glasses during activities that may project small particles, such as sharpening, crushing, shredding, machining, etc.
• The high-mass impact resistance test (ANSI Z87+ standard) is performed with a 500 g (1.1 lb) pointed weight. This weight is dropped from a height of 127 cm (50 inches) directly onto the glasses worn by a mannequin. The same criteria apply to pass the test except for lens deformation. This test assesses the integrity of the glasses in the event of impact with a heavy object, such as a tool, or with a stationary object.
• The U6 mark indicates that the lenses offer maximum protection against UV rays (level 6 out of 6).
This Solus model is equipped with gray polycarbonate lenses, ideal for indoor and outdoor use. The Scotchgard anti-fog treatment prevents fogging, ensuring constant visibility. The ergonomic black and blue arms offer a comfortable and secure fit, even during prolonged wear. Lightweight and unisex, these safety glasses suit all professional profiles.
Solus safety glasses require no complex installation. Simply position them correctly on the face, ensuring the arms rest comfortably behind the ears. The natural adjustment of the arms allows for stable wear, even during movement. For users of additional protective equipment, these glasses integrate easily under a helmet or mask.
To extend the lifespan of the glasses, regularly clean the lenses with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh solvents that could damage the anti-fog coating. Store them in a rigid case away from dust and moisture when not in use. See our suggestions at the bottom of the product page.
Use Solus safety glasses in all environments where risks of projection, dust, or intense light are present. They are particularly suitable for outdoor work thanks to their gray lenses that reduce glare. Wear them continuously to ensure constant protection, and replace them if visible damage appears on the lenses or arms.
Yes, their ergonomic design allows comfortable wear under a construction helmet or noise-reduction headset.
Although primarily designed for industrial settings, their anti-fog treatment and compliance with CSA and ANSI standards may suit certain non-sterile medical uses.
The Scotchgard coating is durable, but its effectiveness depends on maintenance. Regular cleaning with suitable products extends its performance.
