3M Solus safety glasses with indoor/outdoor grey lenses and blue and black temples. Scotchgard anti-fog coating helps prevent fogging in most conditions.

These safety glasses meets the CSA Z94.3 and ANSI Z87.1 standards.

These lightweight unisex safety glasses are made of polycarbonate, an impact-resistant material. This model with grey lenses is recommended for alternating between indoor and outdoor locations while offering protection against dust, particulate and projectile hazards. The lenses absorb 99.9% of UVA and UVB rays. A Scotchgard coating is bonded to the lenses for better durability. These safety glasses may be washed up to 25 times without affecting the quality of the coating.

These safety glasses have blue and black patterned temples made of polycarbonate. The temple tips are made of soft thermoplastic rubber. The adjustable nose bridge is made of soft, flexible PVC for added comfort.

In compliance with the ANSI Z87.1 standard, the temples bear the 3M Z87+ marking and the lenses bear the 3M+ U6 marking. These markings mean that the glasses have passed a high velocity impact test and a high mass impact test.

  • The high velocity impact test is performed with a 6.4 mm (1/4”) steel ball shot at 164 km/h (102 mph) from a distance of 46 m (150’) from the headform. For full compliance, lenses must not fracture and must remain in their frame, no parts may break free inside the glasses, and lenses must not touch the headform’s eye if flexed under the impact. This test evaluates the performance of the safety glasses under conditions that may create small projectiles, such as sharpening, grinding, shredding, machining, etc.
  • The high mass impact test is performed with a 500 g (1.1 lbs) pointed weight that is dropped from 127 cm (50”) directly onto the safety glasses mounted on a headform. The same criteria as above apply for full compliance, with the exception of lens flexing. This test evaluates the performance of the safety glasses in case of impact with a heavy projectile, such as a tool, or with a stationary object.
  • The U6 marking indicates that lenses offer maximum protection against UV rays (level 6 out of 6).

This model of safety glasses is also available with other lens colors to protect against specific hazards: clear lenses to provide high visual acuity (item YAS1101), and amber (yellow) lenses to improve contrasts under low lighting (item YAS1103).
