Find replacement kit contents (TR02MC)

This first aid kit meets the CAN/CSA Z1220-17 requirements for low and moderate risk establishments in Quebec. The contents are suitable to protect 25 workers or less. This first aid kit contains 20 different types of items. It is designated by some manufacturers as a Type 2 kit or the small basic kit.

To better meet your needs, we offer three container models for this kit. Please make your selection using the drop-down menu.

The first container is made of injection molded plastic. It is suitable for locations where kits are not used very often. The hard plastic case closes with two latches. The handle allows for wall mounting. It is important to say that the opening and closing mechanism is not designed to last long. Fatigue breakage is common. The advantage resides in its modest cost.

The second choice is made of metal. This is certainly the best choice to guarantee a longer life. This sturdy metal case opens at the top and closes with two latches. The case has a handle on the top. The cover includes a black rubber gasket. The back of the case has two tabs with holes for wall mounting. The opening mechanisms remain in place while the piano hinge ensures its longevity. This type of case predisposes you to later refills of your kits.

The third one comes in a soft bag. It is compact and easier to carry. It does, however, require a bit of imagination for installation. It is important to remember that proper installation should allow quick and easy access for everyone. It is recommended that the kits be installed in designated areas. Wall-mounted kits are the most common, as they remain visible while looking good. The installation of fixed kits with the plastic or metal model is facilitated, the box was designed for this type of installation. Nevertheless, the usefulness of the soft kit is justified as additional kits assigned to the rescuer. Some rescuers keep this kit in their offices, as an insurance against products that could be missing in the fixed kit available to all.

Rules for the implementation of the kits in the establishments.

Depending on the distribution of workers in a company, it is possible to select several types of kits to protect more than 25 workers. The installation of several kits of this model may be suitable for multiples of 25 employees. For example, it is possible to install two kits for an area with 50 workers, thus allowing faster access. The principle of access in less than 30 seconds of walking time remains to be considered. The same applies to multi-storey buildings where the number of kits must protect workers on one floor.

Note on the conformity of this kit:

You will be able to consult on the CNESST website the information concerning the material required for the basic kit as well as the information concerning the risks associated with your sector of activity.

Features of the CSA-compliant first aid kit for small teams

This kit includes 20 categories of essential medical items, such as adhesive bandages, sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, nitrile gloves, CPR devices, and a thermal blanket. It is available in three formats: a molded plastic case, a durable metal box with a sealing gasket, and a soft portable bag. Each version is tailored to different usage needs, whether wall-mounted or mobile.

Installation options for fixed or mobile use

The plastic and metal cases are designed for wall mounting, with pre-drilled holes on the back for secure installation. The soft bag offers portability for mobile responders or temporary work zones. To meet best practices, install the kit in a visible and accessible location, within 30 seconds walking distance from workstations.

Maintaining your CSA Z1220-17 first aid kit

Regular maintenance is key to keeping your kit compliant and ready for emergencies. Check the contents monthly to ensure all items are present, undamaged, and within expiry dates. Replace used or expired supplies promptly to maintain full CSA conformity and CNESST approval.

Usage tips for workplace first aid kits

Train designated staff in basic first aid procedures and ensure they know how to use each item in the kit. After any incident, restock the kit immediately to maintain readiness. The soft bag version is ideal for mobile responders, while fixed kits should remain accessible at all times.
