For your safety, Sylprotec has assembled a selection of complete first aid kits meeting the minimal provincial requirements.
We would like to remind our customers that each province and territory has its own list of minimal requirements for first aid kits. Additionally, companies under federal jurisdiction must meet their own minimal requirements, which are different from provincial ones. Unless otherwise specified, all our first aid kits meet provincial minimal requirements set by the CNESST.
To choose the right first aid kit for your needs, you should therefore determine if you must conform to provincial or federal requirements, and then, take into account the number of employees, as well as the travel distance in case of accident.
To simplify your choice, we have created a number of optimized first aid kits. The first aid kit that contains the minimal provincial requirements is the kit number TR02. The TR04 kit also fits these minimum requirements, and in addition contains other useful items: gloves, instant ice packs, a disposable rescue blanket, etc.
If you are looking for items and materials to supplement your own existing first aid kits, please browse the other sub-categories under the First Aid tab.

Thermal bags (thermal packs), cold or hot, have proven themselves extremely useful when administering first aid. For their multipurpose applications, these bags are an essential addition to your first aid kits or your first aid rooms. The most common injuries that benefit from thermal bags are without a doubt ankle strains and sprains, and twisted backs. Cold packs may refresh a person suffering from heat stroke and prevent injuries from swelling. Hot packs may relieve muscle cramps, warm your hands in winter or alleviate back pains.
The main types of thermal bags offered by Sylprotec are:
Sylprotec would like to remind our customers to always read the warning labels on thermal bags and to not use them abusively. To prevent burns or frostbite, it is always recommended to place a layer of fabric between the thermal bag and the skin. Do not place the thermal bags directly on the skin.
When a burn occurs, it is extremely important not to use improvised solutions or remedies. Having a well-stocked first aid kit to treat and care for burns is always the best option. The severity of a burn is characterized by how deeply into the skin the burn has penetrated:
1. A first degree burn is characterized by injury to the epidermis (the skin surface)
2. A second degree burn is deeper, exceeding the epidermis and reaching the endoderm
3. A third degree burn completely destroys the skin. Muscles may show through
If the burn occurs in a work environment, if the burn affects a large area of the body, or if the burn has potentially reached the second degree or more, you may use WaterJel dressings to stop the destruction of the skin and the burn sensation. A doctor should be consulted as soon as possible in order to receive the appropriate burn treatment.
If it the burn is fortunately a simple first degree burn, immerse the affected body part in cold water for at least 15 minutes. This way, you will stop the burn from spreading deeper and you will minimize the amount of skin damage. Instant cold packs may also be used, by following their instructions. You can also use the CoolJel gel by applying it on the burn or on a clean bandage.
Sylprotec offers the following products for burn care:
Sylprotec would like to remind its customers that homemade or improvised burn remedies, such as the application of butter, cream or other substances should be avoided. The fundamental reason is that, if your condition requires hospitalization, the doctor will need to remove the applied ointment to treat the wound. If the ointment used is not water soluble, the doctor will have to scrape the wound to remove the ointment, which will cause more pain and might slow the healing of the wound. For this reason, all the burn care products offered by Sylprotec are water soluble.
In this category, Sylprotec has assembled products for emergency care in case of eye injuries. These are mainly basic care items that, for the most part, may easily be included in first aid kits.
Our selection of products includes:
Sylprotec reminds you that if chemical substances are manipulated, the products listed above cannot replace an eyewash station. Indeed, none of the products featured in this category allow the quality of an eye rinsing for the minimal amount of time (15 minutes or more) necessary to rinse chemical products. Please see the “Emergency eye and face wash stations” category, under the “Emergency Showers” tab on our site for more details.
When comes the time to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), no rescuer would doubt the usefulness of the pocket mask and of the disposable face barrier. These items are essential to first aid attendants because it allows them to administer CPR more efficiently. The pocket mask and face barrier also confer a minimum of protection to the rescuer, since resuscitation induces vomiting. Some victims may also carry transmissible diseases; the pocket mask and face barrier can therefore reduce the chance of disease transmission.
The pocket masks and protective facial shields offered by Sylprotec are:
A CPR pocket mask is therefore essential to a first aid attendant. Unfortunately, the pocket mask is not one of the minimal first aid kit requirements in the province of Quebec. However, Sylprotec strongly suggests that a pocket mask be included in first aid kits. Our advice: opt for our large-format first aid kits (items TRAUMA and TR04). Their larger format ensures sufficient space for storing a pocket mask that will always be available in case of emergency.
In this section, you will find emergency blankets. In case of an incident, their purpose is to provide comfort to the victims. One of their most common uses is to cover victims in state of shock, especially while waiting for an ambulance. Emergency blankets also keep warm injured victims that are lying on the ground, otherwise they would quickly lose their body heat. Lastly, emergency blankets can be used to make a privacy screen for victims of heat stroke.
Our main types of emergency blankets are:
Sylprotec would like to inform you that we add disposable emergency blankets to most of our first aid kits. Please consult the kits’ list of contents to ensure a blanket is included in case you desire to purchase a first aid kit.
The material included in this category is intended for first aid rooms, especially for areas with several employees, for clinics, for public places such as shopping malls, and others.
