The chin strap provides extra safety helmet retention in situations where there is a risk of the helmet falling off. Indeed, a chin strap prevents your helmet from becoming a falling object that could injure anyone standing below. Any worker required to wear fall protection equipment as part of their daily duties should also wear a chin strap.
According to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, one shall never draw the chin strap over the brim or peak of the helmet. The CSA Z94.1-15 standard states that one shall inspect and clean its safety helmet and suspension daily. Clean the helmet, suspension and chin strap with lukewarm water and a mild soap (dish soap).
It is designed for Delta Plus Canada safety helmets. It attaches to the helmet suspension for extra retention.
It prevents the helmet from falling off and becoming a falling object. Any worker wearing fall protection equipment should also wear a chin strap.
