Economical and rugged, this low-visibility black surveyor vest is designed for workers in low-traffic-risk areas, where black is preferred for aesthetics or to show less dirt. Its front panel in 300 denier Oxford twill polyester, breathable and tear-resistant, is paired with a polyester mesh back for added comfort. Compliant with the Canadian CSA Z96-22 standard, class 1 level 2 and the American ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 class 1, type O standard, it provides adequate daytime visibility thanks to StarTech retroreflective stripes on a black background. Made by Pioneer (manufacturer code 101027O, model 6671), available in sizes from S to 4XL (drop-down menu). Also available in a high-visibility orange version (V6672) and a high-visibility yellow version (V6673).
The front panel in 300 denier Oxford twill polyester resists tears while staying breathable, while the mesh back panel promotes airflow. The vest features silver StarTech retroreflective stripes with fluorescent yellow borders, in a configuration of 2 vertical stripes in front, 2 stripes crossing in an X on the back and 1 horizontal stripe at the waist. It closes with a heavy-duty zipper and includes a back opening for the D-ring of a safety harness, 2 grey shoulder straps for tools, ID or radios, and 4 eyelets for a tape dispenser or small tools.
This vest offers 12 pockets built for field work. On the front: 2 pockets on the right side (one for ID with a clear window, one lower pocket for a cell phone), 2 lower flap pockets, 4 small pencil slots and 3 inner pockets including one with a grey strap. On the back: 1 large full-width zippered pocket. Enough storage to carry essential surveying tools while keeping your hands free.
The black background is not a high-visibility color: it is chosen for aesthetics or to show less dirt. The silver retroreflective stripes return light toward its source (flashlight, headlights) and offer safety at dawn, dusk and night, without increasing daytime visibility. Class 1 targets workers in low-risk areas (parking lots, warehouses) where vehicles do not exceed about 30 km/h. Type O (Off-Road) refers to daytime-visibility garments for use away from roadways, suited to environments where vehicle speed does not exceed 40 km/h.
Application: low-traffic-risk areas such as parking lots, warehouses and off-road sites, where daytime visibility is sufficient. Restriction: this vest does not protect against flames or electric arcs; do not bleach, iron or dry-clean. Care: hand wash in cold water with mild detergent, inside out to reduce abrasion, no bleach, softener or dryer; replace the vest if torn, soiled or worn.
It complies with the Canadian CSA Z96-22 standard, class 1 level 2, and the American ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 standard, class 1, type O (daytime visibility).
12 pockets: on the front (ID pocket with window, cell-phone lower pocket, flap pockets, pencil slots and inner pockets) and on the back (large full-width zippered pocket).
