This product has been certified by the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and is registered as a bactericide, fungicide and to some extent, virucide.
Foster™ First Defense® 40-80 is ideal for restoration professionals, be they specialized in mold remediation or disaster recovery clean-up. This product is usually the second step to mold remediation, after the clean-up and stain removing on affected materials.
Its innovative light green formula has been designed to remove mold and odor-causing bacteria on porous (carpets, textiles), semi-porous (cement, wood) and non-porous (plastic, metal) materials. Although effective for decontamination, the manufacturer recommends using this product for regular cleaning in hospitals, schools, spas, food processing plants and public spaces in general.

No dilution is required, the First Defense® 40-80 disinfectant has been designed as a ready-made product.
The manufacturer gives no specific information, however, it is asserted that the surface to be treated must be saturated and remain wet for at least ten (10) minutes to sterilize efficiently.
The manufacturer recommends the use of a pump sprayer (SACC2), a mop, a rag or a sponge to apply the First Defense® 40-80 disinfectant.
The manufacturer asserts that his product disinfects in generally thirty (30) seconds. It kills VIH-1 in one (1) minute and blood-borne pathogens such as hepatitis B and C in ten (10) minutes.
Regarding bacteria, this product kills among others Staphylococcus aureus (causes skin infections and toxic shock syndrome), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (causes urinary tract infections, lung infections and meningitis) and Streptococcus pyogenes (causes toxic shock syndrome and scarlet fever).
Lastly, First Defense® 40-80 disinfectant kills fungi such as Trichophyton mentagrophytes (causes athlete’s foot, ringworm, jock itch) and inhibits new growth of mold.
This product requires no protective gear, but the type of work accomplished with this disinfectant may require protective equipment, in particular if dealing with biological waste and other bodily fluids.
The manufacturer strongly advises not to use this product on surfaces below 32 °F (0 °C) and exceeding 100 °F (38 °C). One should avoid HVAC ducts and duct liner insulation. Never use on wool carpets and wool in general.

Keep out of the reach of children at a temperature ranging between 32 °F (0 °C) and 100 °F (38 °C). In the event that the product freezes, thaw it at room temperature and shake gently to remix components.
