Pioneer® 5020BB 7-in-1 orange-black high-visibility winter parka for men, 100% waterproof
This winter parka keeps people working near traffic dry and warm. It combines two jackets: a waterproof outer jacket and a quilted inner jacket with detachable sleeves that reverses to black. Wear them together or separately, depending on the weather and the job. Sold individually; also available in a box of 5 units.

Design of the polyurethane-coated oxford polyester parka
The outer fabric is a 300-denier oxford polyester with polyurethane coating. With its taped and heat-sealed seams, it makes the parka 100% waterproof and windproof. The 5.3 oz/yd² (180 g/m²) polyester fleece lining is quilted and holds in warmth. Distributors list a use range of -46°C to -5°C (-50°F to 23°F). A front zipper with snap storm placket closes the outer jacket, and its 7 in (18 cm) side zippers give greater mobility.
The 7-in-1 system: outer jacket and inner jacket
The versatility of the 7-in-1 comes from its two jackets and their detachable parts.
- Outer jacket: quilted lining, detachable snap hood, storm cuffs, 2 large front cargo pockets, 2 inner pockets and an embroidery access zipper.
- Inner jacket: quilted lining, comfort collar, detachable sleeves, drawstring waist with toggles, 2 large front cargo pockets and 2 inner pockets; it reverses to black.
Class 2 and Class 3 high visibility
The outer and inner jackets comply with CSA Z96-22 Class 2 Level 2, as long as the sleeves are not removed. Worn with high-visibility pants featuring reflective leg bands, they reach Class 3 under CSA. Under ANSI/ISEA 107-2020, they are Class 3, Types P and R. The StarTech® reflective tape is double-stitched. The 10 cm wide contrasting ribbon complies with British Columbia WorkSafeBC/Dot requirements.
About the fluorescent orange high-visibility classification
Fluorescent orange is very visible during the day and in conditions of strong artificial light. In most situations, it also provides high contrast with the background. It is, however, less visible at night and in low light, for example at dawn or dusk.
Silver retroreflective stripes are very visible in low natural or artificial light, because they send light back toward its source (flashlight, car headlights, etc.). They therefore offer maximum safety at dawn, at dusk and at night, but do not increase visibility in full daylight.
Applications of the high-visibility winter parka
For outdoor work near traffic in cold or wet weather: road and utility crews, site supervisors, yards and loading docks. The inner jacket worn alone suits milder weather, and the detachable sleeves come off when the work warms you up; keep the sleeves on, however, where the CSA class is required.
Parka use restrictions
This parka is not flame resistant: for a flame or electric arc hazard, choose a garment certified for that hazard. Worn reversed, the black side does not provide the high visibility of the orange side.
Parka care and service life
Before washing, empty all pockets and close the zippers, snaps and hook-and-loop fasteners. Machine wash with mild soap, shake the parka after washing, then hang it to dry out of the sun; do not put it in the dryer. Do not use chlorine or hydrogen peroxide bleach, or fabric softener, which renders garments flammable. Replace the parka when the polyurethane coating cracks or the reflective tape peels off.
