A High-Performance Solution for Chemical and Industrial Environments.
Manufacturer 3M, reference 8246
This 8246 R95 mask features an advanced electrostatic filter that effectively captures harmful particles, including oily aerosols and acid vapors such as sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, and chlorine. Its ergonomic design includes an adjustable nose clip and elastic straps with adjustable tension through their respective buckles for enhanced sealing. The seal of this respirator is ensured by the adjustable nose clip and elastic straps, whose tension can be adjusted once in their respective loops. The product is made in the United States.
Protection against acid vapors and oily aerosols.
This mask is designed for long-duration tasks where the worker is exposed to hot and humid temperatures. It is effective against liquid particles from oily aerosols releasing harmful concentrations of acid gases, notably sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, and/or chlorine. It is ideal for glass etching, chemical transformation, paper processing, aluminum smelting, and brewing operations, as these are tasks likely to generate low concentrations of acid gases. It can be used in environments with low-intensity acid gases. NIOSH-approved masks (N95, N100, R95, R100, P95, and P100) offer a sufficient level of protection against silica, the second leading cause of chronic respiratory problems after asbestos.
This respirator helps reduce inhalation exposure to certain airborne biological particles, such as mold, Bacillus anthracis (anthrax), Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Koch’s bacillus, responsible for tuberculosis), pandemic flu strains (H5N1, H1N1), etc. However, it cannot completely eliminate the risk of infection, illness, or disease. Due to the nature of certain biological contaminants, government agencies have not been able to determine exposure limits for all types of contaminants.
For optimal protection, position the mask over the nose and mouth, adjust the straps behind the head, then mold the nose clip to ensure a perfect seal. Check that the valve is clear and that the mask is properly centered on the face.
To properly install the R95 mask, position it over the nose and mouth, then adjust the straps behind the head. Mold the nose clip to ensure optimal sealing. Check that the mask is centered and that the valve is clear. Proper installation is essential to ensure effective respiratory protection against acid vapors and oily particles.
This product is disposable and therefore requires no maintenance. It is designed with an estimated lifespan of 8 hours. This figure is for informational purposes only and should not be the sole tool for estimating the lifespan of your mask. Since every work environment is different, it is important to respect the limits established by the manufacturer.
Use this mask in industrial environments where oily particles and acid vapors are present. Do not use in oxygen-deficient environments, in the presence of toxic gases, or if you have a beard or suffer from a respiratory illness. Follow the safety guidelines in force to ensure complete protection.
Do not use if the wearer has a beard or suffers from a condition likely to prevent direct contact between the edge of the mask and the face. Do not use if you suffer from a respiratory illness such as asthma or emphysema. It is not recommended to use this mask when handling spray paint, oil-based aerosols, gases, vapors, asbestos, particles released during sandblasting, and aerosol concentrations exceeding 10 times the permissible exposure limit set by CNESST or any other applicable government regulation. This respirator mask should only be used in areas that do not present an oxygen deficiency risk. When the mask is properly fitted and the qualitative seal test is successful, this respirator meets the standards of ANSI Z92.2-1992, with a protection factor of 10. Therefore, the worker may be exposed to a concentration of certain airborne contaminants up to a maximum of 10 times the established exposure limit.
