Noise dosimeter, sound level meter and data logger

Manufacturer Code: Reed R8085

Do you work in a noisy environment and want to protect your hearing? Are you looking for a reliable, accurate, and easy-to-use device to measure your noise exposure?

Then the Reed R8085 noise dosimeter is made for you!

The noise dosimeter is a multifunctional device that allows you to measure, record, and calculate sound levels (dB) and noise exposure (percentage of dose) over an 8-hour period. It complies with Type 2 standards and the noise study requirements set by OSHA and CCOHS. It features A and C frequency weighting, fast and slow time weighting, adjustable criterion level, exchange rate, and threshold settings. It comes with an easy-to-read backlit LCD screen, data hold and min/max functions, tripod mounting for long-term monitoring, automatic shut-off, and a low battery indicator. The noise dosimeter is compact and lightweight, making it easy to attach to your belt or pocket. It includes a microphone, clip, windscreen, batteries, and a user manual.

Don’t let noise harm your health and well-being.

Get the Reed noise dosimeter today—the best choice for measuring your noise exposure!

Did You Know?

What’s the difference between a sound level meter and a noise dosimeter?

  • Sound Level Meter: Measures noise levels at a specific location at a given moment.
  • Noise Dosimeter: Worn by a person to record the amount of noise exposure over a period of time (hours, minutes, or a full workday). If you want to know the noise level in a room, use a sound level meter. If you want to track how much noise a person has been exposed to throughout their workday, use a noise dosimeter.

Classification of noise dosimeter:

Type 2 Standards: These accuracy standards apply to sound level meters used to measure workplace noise levels, particularly in moderately noisy environments such as offices, schools, and hospitals.

OSHA and CCOHS Noise Study Requirements: OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) in the U.S. and CCOHS (Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety) in Canada have established workplace noise exposure limits to protect workers’ hearing health. According to CCOHS, workplace noise measurement is the most important part of a hearing conservation and noise control program. It identifies excessively noisy workstations, detects employees at risk of noise-induced hearing loss, and determines necessary noise control measures. CCOHS recommends a maximum daily noise exposure of 85 dBA for 8 hours, with no exposure exceeding 140 dBC, regardless of duration.

Frequency Weighting – A and C:

  • A-Weighting: Designed to approximate the human ear’s response to noise, focusing on sensitivity between 500 Hz and 6 kHz.
  • C-Weighting: Primarily used for peak noise level measurements and is less sensitive to low frequencies.

Features of noise dosimeter:

  • Noise dosimeter, sound level meter, and data logger
  • High accuracy of ±1.0 dB, Type 2 compliant
  • Meets OSHA and CCOHS noise study standards
  • Personal noise exposure monitoring, compliant with IEC 61252, ANSI S1.25

Applications for noise dosimeters:

Ideal for use with the REED R8085:

  • Personal noise exposure monitoring
  • Construction sites
  • Workplace safety enforcement
  • Code compliance
  • Traffic noise monitoring
  • Acoustic data recording for environmental studies

Restrictions for noise dosimeters:

Avoid dropping or hitting the instrument, as it may damage internal components. Do not store it in extreme environments with very high/low temperatures, excessive humidity, or direct sunlight exposure.

Maintenance for noise dosimeters:

Regularly clean the microphone and windscreen using a soft, dry cloth.
