Did You Know?
Type 2 Standards: These accuracy standards apply to sound level meters used to measure workplace noise levels, particularly in moderately noisy environments such as offices, schools, and hospitals.
OSHA and CCOHS Noise Study Requirements: OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) in the U.S. and CCOHS (Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety) in Canada have established workplace noise exposure limits to protect workers’ hearing health. According to CCOHS, workplace noise measurement is the most important part of a hearing conservation and noise control program. It identifies excessively noisy workstations, detects employees at risk of noise-induced hearing loss, and determines necessary noise control measures. CCOHS recommends a maximum daily noise exposure of 85 dBA for 8 hours, with no exposure exceeding 140 dBC, regardless of duration.
