This waterproof, windproof black winter coat is a true 7-in-1 system: its removable and reversible liner jacket, fitted with removable sleeves, lets you wear it six different ways depending on the season and the level of visibility required. Designed for people working around slow-moving vehicles, it combines a weatherproof black outer shell with a high-visibility liner, all enhanced with silver retroreflective stripes for safety. Because its outer surface is black fabric, it is rated CSA Z96-15 Class 1 Level 2.
This black coat features 2 in (5 cm) silver retroreflective stripes bordered by 1 in (2.5 cm) fluorescent yellow trim. Both the outer shell and the removable liner have two vertical stripes at the front, two X-shaped stripes at the back, a horizontal stripe at the waist and a stripe around each arm at elbow level.
The waterproof and windproof outer shell is double-layered. The outer layer is 100% black polyester, 300 denier, polyurethane-coated on the inner side. The inner layer is black polyester mesh, for better comfort and air circulation. All seams are sealed and waterproofed.
The liner is also double-layered. Its outer layer is fluorescent polyester, 300 denier, polyurethane-coated on the inner side; its inner layer is 100% polyester with PVC coating. The liner has a polyester filling for warmth.
The outer shell closes with a double-slider plastic zipper, protected by a storm flap with metal snap buttons. Elastic knit trim along the bottom and sleeves keeps the coat in place and seals against wind. It has two outer slit pockets, two large inner pockets and two small inner pockets for instruments and phone; the outer pockets do not close, the inner pockets close with hook-and-loop fasteners (velcro). A hood with drawstring rolls into the collar when not in use.
The removable and reversible liner jacket closes with a reversible zipper, without a storm flap, and its collar is elastic knit trim for comfort. It offers two outer slit pockets, two outer flap pockets and two inner pockets. Its sleeves have elastic wrists and are removable with zippers, so the liner can be worn as a vest.
Black is highly visible during daylight and in conditions with abundant artificial light, and in most situations offers high contrast with the background. However, it is clearly less visible at night and in low-light conditions, for instance at dawn or dusk; this is why the coat, covered with black fabric, is subject to Class 1.
The silver retroreflective stripes are highly visible in low light because they reflect light back toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.). They provide the most safety at night, dawn and dusk, but do not improve visibility in daylight.
Machine wash on delicate with cold or lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Do not use whiteners, bleach or fabric softener. Air dry, away from direct sunlight. Do not machine dry, do not iron, do not dry-clean.
Because its outer surface is black fabric. Under CSA Z96-15, a garment whose background is not a fluorescent high-visibility colour is subject to Class 1, even when it carries retroreflective stripes.
Six ways, thanks to its removable, reversible liner and removable sleeves: winter coat, raincoat, three-season jacket (hi-vis or black), hi-vis vest and black vest.

Yes. For a fluorescent yellow high-visibility version, see the related models offered under "Accessories" at the bottom of the page.
A worker facing the cold near traffic needs far more than a good coat: they need a complete outfit, from head to boots. To round out this protection, consider the high-visibility quilted vest (V5025), the Class 2 high-visibility parka (V50202C) for extreme cold, the high-visibility safety vest (V104) to wear over other layers, and the orange reflective-stripe coverall (V1765) for tasks requiring flame-resistant apparel.
Under "Accessories" at the bottom of the page, complete the outfit with safety glasses (YA3297), a protective helmet (TA14OR) and cut-resistant inspector's gloves (G120).
