Pioneer 486 orange mesh women's safety vest, detachable, 6 pockets
Lightweight and ventilated, this high-visibility orange Pioneer 486 safety vest in 3.5 oz/yd² polyester mesh is specially cut for women, with a defined waist and flared bottom. Its 5-point detachable ("tear-away") design, on the sides, top and front, allows quick removal in an emergency, making it permitted on construction sites. Compliant with the CSA Z96-22 standard, class 2 level 2 and the American ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 class 2, type P and R standard. Made by Pioneer (manufacturer code V1023650, model 486), available in sizes from XS to 2XL (drop-down menu). Also available in a high-visibility yellow version (V489).
Ventilated 3.5 oz polyester mesh with women's fit
The vest is made of 3.5 oz/yd² orange high-visibility polyester mesh, a lightweight, breathable fabric that keeps the worker cool all day. Its women's cut (defined waist, flared bottom) ensures a comfortable fit. Ideal for school crossing guards, airport baggage handlers and many other roles that demand visibility and lightness.
5-point tear-away design with 6 pockets
The vest closes with a front zipper and detaches at 5 distinct points (sides, top and front), offering the comfort of a zipper without compromising safety: the garment releases quickly if it snags, which is why it is permitted on construction sites. It has 6 pockets including a phone pocket and inner pockets, plus a strap and clip for a two-way radio.
High-visibility classification CSA Z96-22 class 2 and ANSI 107-2020 type P and R
The vest features a 50 mm (2 in) StarTech retroreflective tape alternating with fluorescent yellow stripes: 2 vertical stripes in front, 2 stripes crossing in an X on the back and one horizontal stripe at the waist. Fluorescent orange is highly visible in daylight and under strong artificial lighting, but less so at night and in low light (dawn, dusk). The silver retroreflective stripes return light toward its source (flashlight, headlights) and offer maximum safety at dawn, dusk and night. Class 2 level 2 targets women workers in low-to-moderate-risk areas; type R (Roadway) covers traffic exposure and type P (Public Safety) covers first responders.
Application, restriction and care of the mesh safety vest
Application: any role where the worker must be spotted early by drivers (traffic, worksites, airports, school patrols), especially in hot weather thanks to the airy mesh. Restriction: this vest does not protect against flames or electric arcs. Care: empty pockets and close all fasteners before washing, turn the garment inside out, wash in warm water (max 40°C / 104°F) with like colors and a mild liquid detergent (pH 10 or less), without overloading the machine.
