MSA Altair 4X multigas detector for the detection of hazardous gases in confined space. This device can detect explosive gases, oxygen (O₂), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).

Manufacturer code: 10107602

This type of tool is usually used for confined space work and for the detection of explosive or hazardous gases leaks. This device is class 482801 and class 482881 CSA approved by Canadian and American standards.

This detector is certified for hazardous locations as defined by CSA Class I, Div. 1, Groups A, B, C & D.

It is also meets CSA C22.2 NO. 152 concerning combustible gas detection instruments.

It is certified ANSI 12.13.01-2000 as for its performance requirements for combustible gas detectors.

This multigas detector is equipped with MSA XCell cell which can last more than 4 years. It also has a quick time response and a reset time in less than 15 seconds. It features three (3) different alarms: sound (with a volume up to 95 dB), visual (with 4 DEL bulb) and vibrations. It also features a backlit LCD screen.

Sturdy, lightweight and dust- and waterproof, this detector can save up to the last 500 readings of the event log. It also comes with a free software, the MSA Link, to retrieve the necessary data.

It is equipped with a lithium-ion polymer battery of a lifetime of 24 hours (in a controlled environment). It takes less than 4 hours to charge and can withstand a 6 m (20 ft) fall. It is recommended to keep in optimal conditions: -10°C to + 40°C (14°F to 104°F), 15% to 90% relative humidity (in a non-condensing environment).

If you need to measure the air in a deep pit, it is still possible to use this device to make an air quality control before going down. In that case, you need a pump and the right length of tubing. These last two are not included in the kit but are available on demand.

Please note that you must always verify that your equipment is working before each use. The type of test it requires is called a ‘bump test’. To do so, you must get a (DETEC4GR) pressure gauge and the (DETEC4GG) gas cylinders. Moreover, a calibration by a specialized firm is required every 6 months.
