Foster® manufacturer product code: Interior Defense 40-50
Encapsulating products are a safe and efficient method to prevent mold and mildew growth. They dry directly on the treated surface and form an invisible antimicrobial shield that does not allow fungi to continue growing. An encapsulating fungistat is the third and final step to mold remediation. It will be effective only if the surface has already been cleaned and disinfected. The Interior Defense™ 40-50 mold-resistant coating is ideal for restoration professionals, be they specialized in mold remediation or disaster recovery clean-up.
On top of preventing mold and mildew growth, the Interior Defense™ 40-50 mold-resistant coating also acts as a durable, flexible and permeable protective paint.
The Interior Defense™ 40-50 mold-resistant coating may be used on a plethora of surfaces: wood, plaster, galvanized steel and other primed metals (the manufacturer recommends using the Foster® Waterbase Primer™ 40-26).
Choose Interior Defense 40-50 for effective and reliable mold prevention, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
No dilution is required. Interior Defense™ 40-50 has been designed as a ready-made product.
The approximate coverage ranges between 250 ft2 to 400 ft2/gal US and depends heavily on the porosity of the materials and the amount of product applied. Semi-porous surfaces require a greater amount of product to reach saturation, which reduces the coverage rate estimated by the manufacturer.
The manufacturer recommends this product for use by restoration professionals, given that it is sold in large containers that exceed domestic use.
Shake well before use. The manufacturer recommends using a paint brush, a paint roll or an airless spray system to apply the Interior Defense™ 40-50.
Dry product may be removed with undiluted pine oil or citrus-based cleaners, or with nonflammable chlorinated solvents.
Use an airless spray system with reversible 0.015” to 0.017” spray tips for optimum application. Considering that this product is water-based, use corrosion-resistant equipment. Carbon steel equipment is not suitable.
The surface will be dry to touch after forty (40) minutes in ambient conditions. For complete dry-through, this product requires two (2) hours in the same conditions.
The Interior Defense™ 40-50 meets requirements for LEED IEQ 4.2 certification for low-emission products. Depending on the work conditions, personal protection equipment may still be required. For example, half facepiece respirator (R7502) with cartridges for protection against organic vapors and odors (R6001) and P95 filters for protection against dust (R5P71), as well as safety glasses (YA11510).
The manufacturer strongly discourages the application of this product on surfaces whose temperature is outside the range of 40°F (4°C) to 100°F (38°C).
This product has been designed to prevent mold growth and offers no protection against bacteria, viruses, germs and other microorganisms that may be hazardous to health.
Keep out of the reach of children, at room temperature between 40 °F (4 °C) and 100 °F (38 °C). Keep in original sealed container.
Yes, in addition to preventing mold growth, it acts as a durable protective layer, providing a resistant and flexible finish on treated surfaces.
No, this encapsulant is ready to use and requires no dilution, ensuring quick and effective application.
Depending on the porosity of the materials, it can cover between 250 and 400 sq. ft. per gallon, ensuring optimal mold protection.
