Manufacturer: 3MMC, model 6001
WARNING: This type of cartridge does not protect against carbon monoxide (CO) or carbon dioxide (CO₂).
If there is a possibility of these gases being present in your work environment, other means of protection must be used. The 3M R6001 cartridge is specifically designed to filter organic vapors such as solvents, hydrocarbons and volatile compounds found in industrial settings. It installs easily on 6000, 7000 and FF-400 series respirators thanks to its bayonet-style connection system. Its lightweight and balanced design ensures optimal comfort even during extended use. This model complies with NIOSH standard 42 CFR 84 and meets safety requirements in Canada and internationally.
Effective and certified protection for industrial environments.
The R6001 cartridge is approved for protection against organic vapors only. It is not suitable for acid gases, particulates or oxygen-deficient atmospheres. Each pair is individually packaged to ensure product integrity until use. It is compatible with 3M full-face and half-mask respirators, including models R6200, R7502, R7800S and FF-402. Its service life depends on exposure conditions, contaminant concentration levels and frequency of use.
Installing the R6001 cartridge is quick and secure thanks to 3M’s bayonet-style connection system. Simply align the cartridge with the mask connectors and twist until it locks into place. It is recommended to check the mask’s seal after installation to ensure optimal protection. This cartridge can be used alone or in combination with particulate filters using the R501 retainer.
This type of cartridge is ideal for work in the chemical and petrochemical industries, construction and transportation.
Do not use if the wearer has a beard or suffers from a condition that may prevent direct contact between the mask edge and the face. These cartridges do not protect against airborne particulates. It is not recommended to use these cartridges in the presence of gas and vapor concentrations exceeding permissible limits. Do not use when particles are released during sandblasting or when aerosol concentrations exceed 10 times the exposure limit allowed by CNESST or any other applicable government regulation. This type of respiratory protection cartridge should only be used in areas that do not present a risk of oxygen deficiency.
Studies have shown that, in cases of contaminant mixtures, all contaminants are simultaneously absorbed at the surface of the carbon. When no space remains, the most volatile solvent “breaks through” the cartridge. If the cartridges have not reached their saturation limit, they are reusable. It is advisable to store them in a sealed container or bag, since they absorb contaminants from the air even when not worn. The cartridges are disposable, so there is no maintenance. It is recommended to follow the limits established by the manufacturer.
This cartridge is recommended for tasks involving organic vapors, such as industrial painting, varnishing, solvent-based cleaning, chemical manufacturing and surface treatment. It must not be used in the presence of acid gases, particulates or in oxygen-deficient atmospheres. For maximum efficiency, the wearer must be clean-shaven and the mask properly fitted. It is essential to respect the exposure limits established by CNESST or any other regulatory body.
