The R6001 cartridge is approved for protection against organic vapors only. It is not suitable for acid gases, particulates or oxygen-deficient atmospheres. Each pair is individually packaged to ensure product integrity until use. It is compatible with 3M full-face and half-mask respirators, including models R6200, R7502, R7800S and FF-402. Its service life depends on exposure conditions, contaminant concentration levels and frequency of use.

Installing the R6001 Cartridge on 3M Respirators

Installing the R6001 cartridge is quick and secure thanks to 3M’s bayonet-style connection system. Simply align the cartridge with the mask connectors and twist until it locks into place. It is recommended to check the mask’s seal after installation to ensure optimal protection. This cartridge can be used alone or in combination with particulate filters using the R501  retainer.

Cartridge restrictions

Do not use if the wearer has a beard or suffers from a condition that may prevent direct contact between the mask edge and the face. These cartridges do not protect against airborne particulates. It is not recommended to use these cartridges in the presence of gas and vapor concentrations exceeding permissible limits. Do not use when particles are released during sandblasting or when aerosol concentrations exceed 10 times the exposure limit allowed by CNESST or any other applicable government regulation. This type of respiratory protection cartridge should only be used in areas that do not present a risk of oxygen deficiency.

Maintenance and Replacement of the 3M Organic Vapor Cartridge

Studies have shown that, in cases of contaminant mixtures, all contaminants are simultaneously absorbed at the surface of the carbon. When no space remains, the most volatile solvent “breaks through” the cartridge. If the cartridges have not reached their saturation limit, they are reusable. It is advisable to store them in a sealed container or bag, since they absorb contaminants from the air even when not worn. The cartridges are disposable, so there is no maintenance. It is recommended to follow the limits established by the manufacturer.
