Yaktrax® ICEtrekkers® crampons are traction aids designed to make walking on snow and ice safer, especially in urban environments where surfaces vary constantly. Unlike traditional crampons with rigid spikes, this model is designed to provide continuous stability, whether you're walking on ice, packed snow, or de-iced concrete.
They fit flat-heeled boots, including winter boots, hiking boots, and running shoes. Their flexible design allows for comfortable use during frequent travel, without having to remove the crampons each time you change surfaces.
Grip is provided by Diamond Grip® steel traction beads, which create a multitude of micro-contact points with the surface.
This design reduces the risk of slipping on ice while maintaining stability on non-icy surfaces, where traditional crampons become uncomfortable or unstable.
The structure is made of high-strength rubber, capable of maintaining its flexibility down to -40°C. The absence of straps or rigid mechanisms limits snow accumulation and facilitates daily use. The design also promotes better contact with the pedals for people who alternate between walking and driving.
These crampons are recommended for:
They are particularly useful when conditions vary rapidly between ice, snow, and clear surfaces.
It is recommended to add 1 size for regular boots and 2 sizes for insulated boots.
To preserve the materials, avoid using solvents when cleaning. Washing with warm water and mild soap is sufficient when necessary. After use, it is important to dry the crampons thoroughly, as the steel traction beads can rust if they remain wet.
Lifespan depends on frequency of use and the surfaces walked on. In normal urban use, these crampons offer a long service life.
ICEtrekkers use Diamond Grip® steel traction beads instead of rigid spikes. This technology provides excellent grip on ice while maintaining acceptable stability on non-icy surfaces such as cleared concrete or asphalt.
Traditional crampons are very effective on ice, but become unstable and uncomfortable as soon as the surface changes.
Yes. They are specifically designed for everyday urban use, where you are constantly moving from icy surfaces to clear surfaces.
They reduce the risk of falling without requiring the user to remove the crampons every time they change surfaces.
Yes. Their flexible design and lack of large, rigid spikes make it easy to use the pedals, making them more practical for people who alternate between walking and driving, such as mobile workers or urban residents.
ICEtrekker cleats come in five sizes. For a proper fit:
The rubber should be slightly stretched over the boot and the beads should be centered under the sole.
Unlike tungsten carbide crampons, ICEtrekkers' traction beads are made of steel, a material that can rust if left wet. Simply air drying them after use will significantly extend their life.
