North manufacturer code: 7583P10P
This type of cartridge has two inseparable parts, a P100 filter to capture airborne particles and an activated carbon cartridge to absorb vapors and gases. The filter located in the upper part of the combination cartridge is P100 certified, meaning it captures airborne particles with 99.97% efficiency. The letter “P” means “oil proof,” indicating that the filtration membrane resists particles containing oil. This filter also provides protection against solid particles released into the air and liquid particles from both oil-based and non-oil aerosols.
The activated carbon located in the lower part of the cartridge is one of the most economical and effective air purification methods on the market. RN7583P100 cartridges are designed to protect workers from organic vapors such as xylene, benzene, spray paint, pesticides, etc., and acid gases such as chlorine dioxide (ClO₂), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), hydrogen fluoride (HF), hydrochloric acid (HCl), chlorine (Cl) and many other industrial solvents.
Note that acid gas cartridges can only protect for a very limited time against hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). Without proper equipment, H₂S is deadly. These cartridges will protect you if you are forced to evacuate following a hydrogen sulfide release. The cartridges must be discarded immediately after exposure.
The North combination cartridge against organic vapors and acid gases is specially designed to provide effective filtration of hazardous contaminants. Compatible with North respirators series 5400, 7600 and 7700, it guarantees optimal respiratory protection for professionals working in demanding industrial environments.
This North combination cartridge stands out for its dual efficiency against organic vapors and acid gases. Its robust and durable design ensures reliable filtration. Sold in pairs, it represents an economical and practical choice for regular users. Its compatibility with several North respirator models makes it a versatile and indispensable accessory.
This type of cartridge is ideal for work in chemical and petrochemical industries, laboratories, aluminum production by electrolysis and paper processing. The filter of this cartridge provides protection against solid particles released into the air. It is also effective against liquid particles from oil-based aerosols.
They provide reliable protection against aerosol particles that may contain oil, radioactive particles (uranium and plutonium), heavy metal particles (lead, cadmium, arsenic), asbestos in small quantities and carcinogenic particles (4,4’-methylenedianiline (MDA)). This type of cartridge must not be used on a mask in an environment exceeding a concentration greater than 10 times the exposure limit allowed by CNESST.
WARNING: This type of cartridge does not protect against carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). If there is a possibility of these gases being present in your work environment, other means of protection must be used.
Installing the North combination cartridge is simple and quick. Just attach the cartridge to the compatible respirator following the manufacturer’s instructions. A perfect seal is essential to ensure effective and safe respiratory protection.
Studies have shown that in the case of contaminant mixtures, all contaminants are absorbed simultaneously on the surface of the carbon. When there is no more space, the most volatile solvent “breaks through” the cartridge.
If the cartridges have not reached their saturation limit, they are reusable. It is advisable to store them in a container or hermetic bag since they absorb contaminants in the air even when not worn.
The cartridges are disposable, so there is no maintenance. In principle, if it becomes difficult to breathe while wearing this type of cartridge, the filter part of the cartridge is saturated and the cartridges must be replaced. On the other hand, if you can smell and/or taste the contaminants you are protecting yourself from, the activated carbon cartridge part is saturated (broken through), so the cartridge must also be replaced at that time. It is recommended to follow the limits established by the manufacturer.
Use the North combination cartridge only in suitable environments, particularly those exposed to organic vapors and acid gases. Make sure the respirator is properly adjusted and that the seal is perfect. Respect the recommended service life and replace the cartridges regularly to maintain optimal respiratory protection.
These cartridges can help reduce inhalation exposure to certain airborne biological particles such as molds, Bacillus anthracis (anthrax), Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Koch’s bacillus) responsible for tuberculosis, pandemic flu viruses (H5N1, H1N1), etc. However, they cannot completely eliminate the risk of infection, disease or illness. Of course, when protection is needed only against biological particles, this type of equipment is not recommended. North series N cartridges have been designed for workers who may need to protect themselves against biological particles in addition to certain gases and/or vapors and airborne particles.
Do not use if the user has a beard or suffers from a condition that may prevent direct contact between the mask edge and the face. It is not recommended to use these cartridges if there is a concentration above the permitted limit of gases and vapors. Do not use also when particles are released during sandblasting and aerosol concentrations exceed 10 times the exposure limit allowed by CNESST or any other applicable government regulation. This type of respiratory protection cartridge must only be used in areas that do not present a risk of oxygen deficiency.
It is recommended for industrial environments, laboratories and work areas where the air is contaminated by organic vapors and acid gases.
No, this cartridge is designed to filter organic vapors and acid gases. For protection against particles, an appropriate filter must be used in addition.
It is recommended to keep it in a hermetic package, away from humidity and contaminants, in order to preserve its effectiveness until use.
