This 150-denier Trilobal® polyester safety wear has been lined with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to provide water-resistance. The manufacturer grants this product a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm, i.e. it can withstand the pressure of a 10 m water column. A waterproof rating is granted when a material has been tested under the pressure of a cylinder filled with water, in this case, 10 m high of water. This height defines the limit at which the material stops being resistant and water starts passing through.

All seams have been taped and heat-sealed. This lightweight and flexible raincoat is ideal for occasional use. It is recommended for any worker working away from any motorized vehicles.

The Coat
The coat closes with a plastic teeth zipper protected by a hook and loop sealed flap. The wide style of this coat allows one to easily wear warm clothes underneath while still allowing a good airflow. It features two large flap-protected vents at the front and back and two flap-protected large pockets.

The sleeves are equipped with hook and loop fasteners on the wrist to ensure a fit adjustment. The hood may be adjusted with a stretchable cord. It may be removed and snapped on again as needed. The upper back is thinly mesh-lined for added comfort. This coat is not flame-resistant.

The Pants
The wide style of these pants allows one to easily wear warm clothes underneath while still allowing a good airflow. They also feature a hook and loop sealed fly opening at the front. They also feature boot accesses that close with hook and loop fasteners in order to adjust the ankles to allow a tight fit with work boots or winter wear. These pants are not flame-resistant.

This PVC-lined Trilobal® polyester rainwear kit is said to be manufactured with a 150-deniers yarn; in layman’s terms, it is lightweight but offers an effective protection, thanks to Viking™ patented weaving. By definition, 150 deniers refer to the weight in grams of 9,000 m of the yarn used to make this coat, that is, 150 deniers equal 150 g. The manufacturer, Viking®, is unable to provide the polyurethane liner’s thickness. However, he ensures that Trilobal® polyester offers a good resistance to wear and tear.

Regarding the term Trilobal®, it refers to the type of woven fabric. It strongly resembles the oxford cloth which is widely used in the industry, namely the apparel industry. Trilobal® weaving is said to be four times more resilient than the oxford which consists in interlacing a warp thread (horizontal line) and a weft thread (vertical line) to create a basket weave structure. Indeed, Trilobal® consists of a triple twined polyester thread that creates a cross-section of fibres at regular intervals to form cells. These cells significantly increase the tensile strength of the garment effectively preventing tears from expanding to the next cell.

The airtightness of this rain kit comes from its double sewn, taped and heat-sealed seams. PVC-lined waterproof safety wear is usually worn by workers who may be exposed to remote or moderate risks of chemical splashes. PVC is a thermoplastic polymer which offers resistance to chemicals, oils, greases, acids, alkalies, solvents, oxidants, and ozone. PVC is also resistant to wear and tear, and stretching.

PVC-coated clothes are recommended for workers that work in environments where the temperature varies between -5 °C and 18 °C accompanied by showers and strong winds. This rainwear keeps workers dry during heavy rains because PVC is absolutely non-porous; it is, however, absolutely not breathable which may cause a sauna effect through perspiration. One must thus choose wisely what to wear underneath according to the efforts required.

This rainwear should always be machine-washed in a delicate setting with cold or lukewarm water, and a gentle soap. Never use bleaching agents or fabric softeners on this rain kit. It should also be air-dried in a sheltered spot out of direct sunlight. Never tumble dry, iron or dry clean this safety wear.
