The MSA vented bump cap protects the head against everyday minor bumps: it reduces abrasions and lacerations when the head strikes a low structure, piping or an edge. Its high-density polyethylene shell has perforated sides that let air circulate, and its pinlock suspension adjusts to the standard 6-1/2 to 8 size. This bump cap does not replace a certified safety hard hat: it is worn only where a certified hard hat is not required, and it offers neither electrical protection nor protection against falling objects. Four colours are offered, blue, yellow, red and white, and it is sold individually.
For mechanics working under a hood or a raised vehicle, warehouse workers moving between low racking, building maintenance technicians passing through service spaces and food plant employees, wherever the hazard comes from fixed structures and a certified safety hard hat is not required. On a construction site or under a suspended load, choose a certified safety hard hat instead.
Inspect the shell and suspension before each use, and replace the bump cap if it is cracked, deformed or discolored, or after a significant bump. Check that the suspension pins remain firmly engaged in the shell. Clean according to MSA instructions, let it air dry and store it away from direct sunlight and heat.
No. It is not certified as a safety hard hat and protects neither against falling objects nor against electrical hazards. It is worn only where a certified safety hard hat is not required.
It reduces abrasions and lacerations caused by minor bumps, for example when the head strikes an edge, low piping or the underside of a raised vehicle.
Yes. The sides of the shell are perforated to let air circulate, a welcome comfort during extended wear in a warm shop.
It covers the standard 6-1/2 to 8 size, expressed as a hat size. Select the pin position that gives a stable fit before starting the task.
The bump cap is offered in blue, yellow, red and white, which makes it possible, for example, to assign one colour per department or crew.
For a mechanic sliding under raised vehicles in a garage where a certified hard hat is not required, plan for Uvex Genesis glasses (YAU3201) with an espresso lens and Endura Pro gloves (G378GKGVBE) resistant to cuts and impacts. Classic 312-1201 earplugs (OA101) reduce air tool noise, a 3M 8576 mask (R8576) with a Cool Flow valve suits body sanding and a black Pioneer 6671 surveyor vest (V6671) with retroreflective stripes keeps measuring tools within reach.
When the task requires a certified safety hard hat, see the MSA V-Gard (TA80-V) with Fas-Trac III suspension, the vented (TA81) MSA V-Gard 500 with 4-point suspension and the MSA Super (TA82) V with ratchet suspension. For another light protection option, the white North (TA89BC) helmet with 4-point suspension is also uncertified. Between shifts, the Sipco wall (TA2) rack or the Sipco seat (TA1) rack keeps the bump cap clean and within reach.
