The 3M DBI-SALA ExoFit X100 Class APL harness is specifically designed for tower climbing, telecom structures and wind turbine work. It combines three functions in one: fall arrest (dorsal D-ring), vertical lifeline climbing (sternal D-ring) and work positioning (lateral hip D-rings). Made in the USA, compliant with CSA Z259.10-18.

This harness features 4 zinc-plated steel D-rings: 1 dorsal stand-up D-ring with anti-slip back pad, 1 sternal (front) D-ring for connection to a vertical lifeline during climbing, and 2 lateral hip D-rings for hands-free work positioning. Quick-connect pivoting buckles keep the fit secure throughout the shift. The integrated sub-pelvic strap prevents orthostatic suspension syndrome in the event of a fall.
Color-coded straps simplify donning. Plastic end caps prevent fraying. The integrated 3M CSID (Connected Safety ID) enables inventory management and inspection tracking. Available in 5 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XXL.
Maximum load: 310 lb (140.6 kg) including clothing, tools and equipment. Compliant with CSA Z259.10-18 for the Canadian market. Made to order by 3M — allow approximately 1 month for delivery.
High-strength polyester webbing: superior resistance to acids, UV and weather. Unpainted zinc-plated alloy steel hardware: direct visual inspection without masking corrosion. Leg and back padding for comfort during long climbs. Color-coded straps for quick identification of each attachment point when donning.
Ideal for: telecom tower climbing, electrical pylons and wind turbine structures. Class APL combines fall arrest (A), vertical lifeline climbing (L) and work positioning (E). Available in 5 sizes (Small to XXL). Use with a vertical cable grab connected to the sternal ring during ascent.
Inspect before every use: check for wear, tears, buckle or D-ring deformation, webbing degradation or chemical contamination. Qualified-person inspection at regular intervals (90 days recommended). Maximum service life: 5 years from first use. Remove from service immediately after any fall or impact, even with no visible damage. Sylprotec offers fall protection equipment inspection services.
Wash in warm water (37°C / 98.6°F) with mild soap. Never use bleach, solvents or abrasive products. Rinse thoroughly. Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Store in a dry location away from UV. Replace if heavily contaminated or exposed to aggressive chemicals.
A Class AL harness combines fall arrest (A) and vertical lifeline climbing (L). Class APL adds work positioning (E) via lateral hip D-rings, enabling hands-free positioning once at height. This model is therefore more versatile for technicians who need to both climb and work on the structure.
Yes, but this harness is optimized for tower climbing and wind energy work. For general construction without vertical lifeline climbing, a Class A or AP harness at lower cost is more appropriate. Contact us to select the right harness for your specific work.
The CSID (Connected Safety ID) is a chip built directly into the harness. It enables inventory management, inspection date tracking and usage history via the 3M app — without any additional external tag.
To complete this Class APL harness, we recommend a vertical grab or lifeline for climbing (sternal D-ring connection), and an adjustable positioning lanyard (FPL1385301C) for the hip D-rings. Under Accessories at the bottom of the page, you will find equipment compatible with this climbing harness.
For complete protection at height, add CSA-certified anchors (FPA1231117C) and a hard hat suited for tower work. Gloves (GS21) complete the setup for climbing.
