The international CSA B149.2-0 code is a standard that applies to the storage, handling, and use of propane. It was developed and published by the CSA Group, also known as the Canadian Standards Association. This code contains requirements related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of tanks, bottles, vaporizers, dispensers, filling stations, refueling centers, and appliances using propane. It also covers safety, prevention, and protection against fires, leaks, and explosions. The 2020 edition of this code came into effect on July 31, 2020. It replaces the 2015 edition.
Ideal for service stations, workshops, garages, manufacturing plants, construction sites, etc. Fully welded, no assembly required. Propane cylinders must be handled and transported with care, using appropriate carts or dollies. Avoid dragging, rolling, striking, or exposing them to shocks or vibrations. Also avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
Installation of the Kleton SEB837 cabinet is quick thanks to its fully welded design. Simply place it on a flat and stable surface, outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Cylinders must be stored upright at all times, in accordance with CSA standards. The reversible door makes it easy to adapt to your space, and the padlock hasp allows you to secure access.
We recommend putting up "danger matières inflammables" (ECD410) signs and securing access with a padlock and a "Do not open" label. A padlock allows you to control who has access to the gas cylinders (CA1M). This can be particularly important in work environments where only certain people are trained to handle these cylinders. In addition, for a propane vapor cylinder, the same precautions apply as for a propane liquid cylinder: protective gloves must be worn. Use gloves that protect against cold and chemicals. Liquid propane can cause cold burns and skin damage, so we recommend nitrile gloves, such as our flannel-lined cotton gloves (G520), or neoprene gloves, such as our black neoprene gloves (GNE3030). Latex or PVC vinyl gloves are not recommended.
Using a cabinet for two propane cylinders is important for several reasons:
Cylinders must be stored vertically. There must be a minimum distance between the cabinet and buildings, building openings, electrical equipment and other tanks.
The cabinet should be cleaned with a soft cloth and soapy water, then dried with a dry cloth. It should be regularly checked for corrosion and damage. The cabinet should be placed in a dry, ventilated area, away from sources of heat and ignition.
This cabinet can hold up to two 35 lb propane cylinders, stored in a vertical position.
Yes, it is designed to meet or exceed the CSA B149.2-0 code for propane storage.
It must be installed in a well-ventilated area, ideally outdoors, to comply with safety standards related to gas storage.
