G611
Availability date:
Cool Grip® reinforced Kevlar® thumb patch heavy-duty terry cloth bakers mitt of a total length of 17 in (43 cm) for intermittent protection against dry thermal burn during food processing. Available in a one-size-fits-all only. Sold in pairs.
Superior manufacturer’s code: TBM
These mitts are approved for safe food handling by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
This mitt meets ASTM F1060-08 standard test method for thermal protective performance of materials for protective clothing for hot surface contact. Indeed, this mitt provides a level 4 protection, that is, up to 450°F (230°C), against dry thermal burn which may occur during food processing.
G611 peculiarities:
The heavy terry knit protects hands against contact heat through its loops and its tight plain weave. Loops can actually absorb a lot more than regular fabric and a tight warp and weft block the remainder of the heat, if under 450°F (230°C), to which one may be exposed. Of course, the cotton fleece liner helps protect one against heat as well as against mild cuts. Its speckled brown colour conceals most of the stains to offer a great look at any time between and after many washes. At last, the Kevlar® thumb patch improves the protection in critical spots.
Cotton properties:
Cotton has a high water-absorbing capacity and can deal as well with sebum without getting damp. This fabric also has good breathable characteristics, it is hypoallergenic and it offers a nice touch and good comfort which suits perfectly to those who have sensitive skin. Cotton has low thermal-conductivity, therefore in summer it prevents your skin from heating, and in winter it preserves the warmth of your body.
Kevlar properties:
Kevlar®, a thermoplastic polymer related to aramids, is a low-density high-strength material which offers an excellent tensile strength, elongation and shear strength. This fabric doesn’t expand from temperature changes and fairly absorbs vibrations and shock. Kevlar doesn’t strain the hand and react chemically well to hydrocarbons.
Use for:
This mitt is recommended for applications such as bakeries, food processing, restaurants and food supply as well as for cooking with your mind at peace from the comfort of your home
Do not use for:
It is not recommended to immerse this mitt in water or any other liquid brought to boil since their fabric only offers a limited protection against heat conduction. It is also recommended to stay away from open flames when wearing these mitts since the Kevlar® strip is pretty much fireproof but cotton burns bright.
Maintenance and service life:
It is recommended to carry out a basic maintenance to extend the service life of your gloves. Simply wash them with cold water, that is, 85°F/30°C, and a mild detergent. It is also recommended to rinse well with cold water your clean gloves before putting them to dry. You can then dry them at low temperature in a dryer. Never use bleach on this glove.
