The Superior Cool Grip® bakers pads (product code BPE) are heavy-duty terry cloth pads made of pre-washed cotton, 12 in (30 cm) long, designed for intermittent protection against dry thermal burns during food processing. Available in one-size-fits-all and sold in packs of 6, they are approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for safe food handling. Compliant with the ASTM F1060-08 test method, they provide a level 4 protection against contact heat according to ASTM and ANSI standards, up to 450 °F (230 °C).
Superior manufacturer's code: BPE
The heavy terry knit protects hands against contact heat through its loops and tight plain weave: the loops absorb much more than regular fabric, and the tight warp and weft block the remaining heat when exposed to temperatures up to 450 °F (230 °C). This model is fitted with an elastic band designed to slip over the wrist to secure the pad on the hand for a more ergonomic use.
Cotton has a high water-absorbing capacity and handles sebum well without getting damp. It is breathable, hypoallergenic and offers a nice touch and good comfort, which suits perfectly those with sensitive skin. Cotton has low thermal conductivity, making it ideal for work in hot and cold environments.
These pads are recommended for bakeries, food processing, restaurants and food supply, as well as for home cooks who want peace of mind in the kitchen.
Do not immerse these pads in water or any other boiling liquid, since their fabric offers only limited protection against heat conduction. It is also recommended to stay away from open flames when holding them, since cotton burns quickly.
Basic regular maintenance extends the service life of your pads. Wash them in hot water (i.e. 105 °F/40 °C) with a regular detergent, then tumble-dry on medium heat. Bleach may be used if necessary to clean the pads of this model.
