The 3M Speedglas high-visibility grinding visor (ref. 06-0700-51) is engineered for grinding, sanding and light welding operations with the Speedglas 9100 FX and 9100 FX-Air welding helmets. It provides a 20.32 cm × 10.79 cm (8 in × 4.25 in) viewing window for exceptional, distortion-free vision, even in high-spatter environments.
3M purchase code: 7000128082, model: 06-0700-51
The anti-fog and scratch-resistant coating maintains optical clarity in all conditions, including humid environments or high radiant heat. Compliant with ANSI Z87.1-2010 and CSA Z94.3, this visor ensures recognized eye and face protection for industrial and construction work. Sold in a bag of 5 units to simplify stock management for rotating crews.
Manufactured in Sweden, the 06-0700-51 visor replaces the original visor on 9100 FX and 9100 FX-Air helmets whenever pitting, scratches or damage impair clear vision. Available with a 7-business-day lead time.
Construction and heavy infrastructure: grinding rebar, cutting metal parts, welding structural members. The visor resists abrasive spatter and protects the operator without reducing precision.
Industrial and mechanical maintenance: machine repair, weld dressing, surface sanding. The large transparent window allows monitoring of the work zone without removing the helmet.
Combined welding operations: when the helmet switches from auto-darkening filter mode to transparent visor mode for grinding between weld passes, the 06-0700-51 visor takes over without removing equipment.
Metal fabrication and boilermaking: bead dressing, deburring, torch cutting. The multidirectional spatter typical of these positions justifies regular replacement and availability of spare visors in a bag.
Inspect the visor before each use. Replace as soon as pitting, deep scratches or impacts impair visual clarity. A damaged visor reduces contrast and compromises precision. The bag of 5 units ensures immediate rotation without work interruption.
Clean with a slightly damp lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive solvents. Store away from UV and excessive heat to preserve the coating anti-fog properties.
The 06-0700-51 visor is designed specifically for Speedglas 9100 FX and 9100 FX-Air welding helmets. It is also compatible with the 9100 MP. It does not fit models 9002X, 9000X or G5. Before purchasing, verify the exact model printed inside the helmet or in the original 3M documentation.
Both visors share the same high-visibility window and the same anti-fog scratch-resistant coating. The 06-0700-54 covers a slightly wider range including the 9100 (without FX suffix), while the 06-0700-51 is optimized for the 9100 FX-Air. Refer to the helmet documentation to confirm the reference recommended by 3M.
Replace the visor as soon as isolated pitting in the central field of view, scratches causing glare, or impact-induced micro-cracks are observed. A practical rule: if the operator must move their head to avoid a scratched area, the visor must be changed. Never wait for a damaged visor to shatter under a metal spatter impact.
For complete protection during grinding and welding operations, these items are commonly worn alongside this visor: gloves Endura Pro cut and impact resistant (G378GKGVBE), earplugs EARsoft BT-200 disposable corded (OA1252C), eyewear SecureFit 400 clear anti-fog lens (YASF401BG), coveralls Arc Flash ARC 2 orange Pioneer 7 oz (V7705) and Zenith economical nitrile polyester 13-gauge gloves (GZ13POFN).
