Economical Pioneer 5496 fluorescent orange traffic sash with reflective stripes
This high-visibility traffic sash is an inexpensive alternative to safety vests when fully compliant equipment is not required. Easy to put on and adjustable in one size, it closes at the front with a black plastic quick-release buckle and instantly boosts the wearer's visibility, both in daylight and at dusk. Made by Pioneer (item 5496), it is ideal to quickly identify a person on a worksite, in a parking lot, at an event or for any light traffic-signalling task.
Construction of the orange fluo sash with 3.8 cm elastic straps
It is made of 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) wide fluorescent orange elastic straps, with a 9/16" (1.5 cm) Startech retroreflective stripe applied at the center. The layout features 2 vertical straps in front, 2 straps crossing in an X-shape in the back, and one horizontal strap around the waist. The straps are adjustable with sliding buckles, fitting almost any body size.
Visibility of fluorescent orange and grey retroreflective stripes
Fluorescent orange is highly visible in daylight and in low natural-light conditions such as dawn and dusk, and provides high contrast against most backgrounds. The silver-grey retroreflective stripes return light toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights): they offer maximum safety at dawn, dusk and night, but do not increase visibility in broad daylight.
Straps too narrow for CSA compliance: when to choose them
Please note: these straps are too narrow to qualify for CSA compliance. They are an economical solution for situations where certified equipment is not required. If you need CSA-compliant hi-viz traffic sashes, choose the certified models VV21 (yellow) and VV22 (orange).

Is this sash CSA certified?
No. Its straps are too narrow to meet the CSA standard. For uses requiring certification, choose the VV21 (yellow) or VV22 (orange) instead.
What size is available?
One size fits all. The elastic straps are adjustable with sliding buckles and fit almost any body size.
What is the difference with the yellow VV20 sash?
They are identical in construction; only the color changes. VV23 is fluorescent orange (Pioneer 5496) and VV20 is fluorescent yellow (Pioneer 5497). Pick the color that offers the best contrast in your environment.
How does it close?
At the front, at waist level, with a black plastic quick-release buckle for fast on and off.
Do the reflective stripes work in daylight?
The retroreflective stripes are mainly useful in low light (dawn, dusk, night). In daylight, the fluorescent orange color provides the visibility.
