This orange jacket has 50 mm (2 in) silver StarTech retroreflective stripes alternating with fluorescent yellow stripes: 2 vertical stripes at the front, 2 X-shaped stripes at the back and a horizontal stripe at the waist. Fluorescent orange is highly visible in daylight and under strong artificial light, offering high contrast with the background, but becomes less visible at night and in low light. The silver retroreflective stripes are highly visible in low light because they reflect light back toward its source; they provide the most safety at dawn, dusk and night, but do not improve visibility in daylight. Reflective elements at the front, back and sides let drivers spot the worker from all angles.
