Protect your forearms with the Kevlar sleeve with thumb opening, cut-resistant level A3
The yellow Kevlar(R) sleeve with a thumb opening provides an A3 (ANSI/ISEA 105) cut resistance to protect the forearms against mechanical hazards. Its thumb opening keeps the sleeve firmly in place and covers part of the hand without hindering the fingers, while the seamless Kevlar(R) knit ensures durability and comfort. Since Kevlar(R) is flame-resistant, it does not melt or drip when exposed to an open flame, and withstands heat of 600°F / 315°C for about 2.5 seconds. Made in Canada by Superior, it comes in two lengths, 10 in (25.4 cm) and 14 in (35.5 cm), and is sold in pairs. Please select the length needed in the field above.
Features of the Kevlar sleeve with thumb opening
This Kevlar(R) knit sleeve stands out for its thumb opening, which prevents it from slipping during work and extends protection over part of the hand without entangling the fingers. Its yellow colour makes it easy to spot in industrial settings. Kevlar(R) offers excellent tensile and cut resistance while remaining light and flexible: it does not strain the arm and suits prolonged wear. As it does not melt or drip on contact with an open flame, it adds burn protection to mechanical protection.
Dimensions and specifications of the Superior VS21P Kevlar sleeve
Material: Kevlar(R) (seamless knit). Colour: yellow. Feature: thumb opening. Cut resistance: level A3 according to ANSI (ISEA 105). Heat resistance: 600°F / 315°C for about 2.5 seconds; Kevlar(R) is flame-resistant (does not melt or drip under an open flame). Lengths available: 10 in (25.4 cm) and 14 in (35.5 cm). Made in Canada by Superior. Sold in pairs. Does not protect against splashes or chemicals.
Uses of the Kevlar sleeve for sheet metal, automotive and welding
This sleeve is recommended for workers in hot environments where wearing heavy protective garments may be a burden, but where the forearms must still be protected from mechanical hazards and, possibly, burn hazards. It suits settings where metal is handled, such as sharp sheet metal, as well as the automotive industry, metal fabrication and welding. Its thumb opening makes it especially practical for tasks where protection must extend to the hand. It is worn with a suitable cut-resistant glove.
Restrictions regarding the Kevlar sleeve
Kevlar(R) is known to have low resistance to UV light and moisture: avoid prolonged sun exposure and store the sleeve away from moisture. It does not protect against splashes or chemicals. This sleeve offers only limited protection against cuts, tears and puncture; it reduces the risk without being able to eliminate it completely and does not replace a risk assessment or other safety measures. The stated heat resistance (600°F / 315°C for 2.5 s) does not make this sleeve equipment for prolonged fire protection.
Maintenance and service life of the Kevlar sleeve
Wash the sleeve in warm water, that is 85°F / 30°C, with a mild detergent, then dry it at low température in a dryer. Never use bleach on this sleeve. Discard it if the product is damaged, contaminated, soiled or worn. Basic maintenance and storage away from moisture and UV extend its service life and preserve its level of protection.
