Manufacturer 3M, model 60923
WARNING: This type of cartridge does not protect against carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). If there is a possibility of these gases being present in your work environment, other means of protection must be used.
The 3M 60923 cartridge integrates two inseparable elements: a P100 filter and an activated carbon cartridge. The P100 filter captures 99.97% of solid and liquid particles, including those from oily and non-oily aerosols. The “oil proof” membrane ensures optimal resistance to oil-containing particles. The activated carbon, located in the lower part, effectively absorbs organic vapors such as xylene, benzene, industrial solvents, and acid gases such as sulfur dioxide, chlorine, or hydrochloric acid. This cartridge is designed to provide reliable protection in high chemical concentration environments while respecting permissible exposure limits.
Certified respiratory protection for industrial environments.
The 3M P100 combination cartridge is certified to NIOSH 42 CFR 84 standards. It offers protection against radioactive particles (uranium, plutonium), heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic), low-level asbestos, and carcinogenic particles such as methylenedianiline (MDA). It is also effective against certain airborne biological particles, such as mold, Koch’s bacillus, or flu viruses (H5N1, H1N1). However, it does not protect against carbon monoxide (CO) or carbon dioxide (CO₂), and should not be used in low-oxygen environments.
The 60923 cartridge installs easily on 3M respirator masks from the 6000, 7000 and FF-400 series. Simply clip it onto the side connectors of the mask, ensuring a perfect seal. Quick installation allows immediate use for respiratory protection against organic vapors and acid gases.
P100 combination cartridges are disposable and require no maintenance. They should be stored in an airtight bag when not in use, as they continue to absorb airborne contaminants. If breathing becomes difficult, this indicates the filter is saturated. If odors or tastes of contaminants are noticeable, the activated carbon is saturated. In both cases, the cartridge must be replaced. It is recommended to follow the usage limits established by the manufacturer to ensure optimal protection.
This cartridge should only be used in environments where gas and vapor concentrations do not exceed 10 times the permissible exposure limit, according to CNESST. It is not suitable for sandblasting or oxygen-deficient environments. The user must not have a beard or any condition preventing direct contact between the mask and the face. In the event of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) release, this cartridge can provide temporary protection for evacuation but must be discarded immediately after exposure.
Yes, it is designed to effectively filter acid gases such as SO₂, Cl, and HCl within permissible exposure limits.
No, the P100 combination cartridge does not protect against CO. A self-contained breathing apparatus or another suitable system is required.
If breathing becomes difficult or if you notice odors or tastes of contaminants, this means the filter or activated carbon is saturated. The cartridge must be replaced immediately.
