Yellow waterproof, flame-resistant and high-visibility Pioneer Flame-Gard model 5894 safety coat

The Pioneer® Flame-Gard model 5894 safety coat, in high-visibility yellow, protects against cold, rain and fire alike. Made of reinforced flame-retardant polyurethane coated on a polyester membrane, with 4-way stretch, it complies with the CGSB 155.20-2000 type 3, CSA Z96-22 class 2 level 2 (class 3 with a high-visibility flame-resistant bib pant featuring leg stripes) and ANSI/ISEA 107-20 class 3 type P and R standards. Lightweight, sturdy and comfortable for long days, it features flame-resistant StarTech® retroreflective stripes. Available in sizes from extra-small (XS) to quadruple extra-large (4XL). Pioneer® manufacturer code: V3520160, model 5894. Also available in orange (VP5892) and black (VP5894N).

Availability: this model is not currently kept in stock. The lead time is approximately 5 to 7 business days for popular sizes (large to 2XL).

Design of the Flame-Gard coat in reinforced polyurethane

The coat's outer shell is reinforced flame-retardant polyurethane coated on a polyester membrane, meeting the strictest safety standards. It is 100% waterproof, resistant to oil and chemicals, and features a very wide removable hood, a full-length zipper with a snap storm flap, and flame-resistant retroreflective stripes for better visibility in the dark. Its 4-way stretch fabric ensures optimal comfort, even during extended shifts.

Triple protection: fire, rain and high visibility

This coat protects against fire, burns and heat thanks to its flame-retardant materials; it keeps you dry and warm thanks to its waterproof coating that resists rain, snow and liquid splashes; and it ensures optimal visibility thanks to its bright colour and reflective stripes.

CGSB 155.20 flame-resistant and CSA/ANSI high-visibility classification

CGSB 155.20-2000 type 3: Canadian standard defining performance requirements for workwear protecting against unexpected exposure to hydrocarbon flash fires, to reduce the severity of injuries.

CSA Z96-22 class 2 level 2: high-visibility garment for workers near road traffic (max speed 80 km/h, low to moderate risk). Worn with the flame-resistant VP5895J bib pant, the set reaches class 3.

ANSI/ISEA 107-20 class 3 type P and R: type P covers public safety (police, firefighters, paramedics) and type R covers roadway use (construction, transport, maintenance). The reflective stripes are visible from a long distance.

Visibility of fluorescent yellow and silver stripes

Fluorescent yellow (safety lime-green) is highly visible in daylight and in low natural light (dawn, dusk), offering high contrast against the background. Paler than orange, it is slightly more visible at night, though not as visible as the reflective stripes in darkness. The silver retroreflective stripes return light toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.) and provide maximum safety at dawn, dusk and at night, without increasing visibility in full daylight.

Applications of the Flame-Gard coat for high-risk outdoor work

This coat suits construction and forestry workers and anyone who must work outdoors in the rain with a flash-fire risk. We recommend combining it with the Pioneer VP5895J flame-resistant waterproof bib pant for complete class 3 protection.

Restrictions and care of the Pioneer flame-resistant coat

Restrictions: to reach class 3 (CSA Z96-22 and ANSI/ISEA 107), wear this coat with high-visibility flame-resistant pants or bib pants featuring retroreflective leg stripes. Store it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Replace it if it shows signs of wear, tearing, perforation or burns, or if the reflective stripes lose their effectiveness. Care: hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, inside out to reduce abrasion. Do not use bleach, fabric softener or a tumble dryer.
