Black waterproof, flame-resistant and low-visibility Pioneer Flame-Gard model 5894BK safety coat
The Pioneer® Flame-Gard model 5894BK safety coat, in black, protects against both rain and fire, for workers in low-risk areas. Made of reinforced flame-retardant polyurethane coated on a polyester membrane, with 4-way stretch, it complies with the CGSB 155.20-2000 type 3, CSA Z96-22 class 1 level 2 and ANSI/ISEA 107-20 class 1 type O (low visibility, off-road use) standards. Its flame-resistant StarTech® retroreflective stripes on a black background provide increased visibility in low light. Lightweight, sturdy and comfortable, it is available in sizes from extra-small (XS) to quadruple extra-large (4XL). Pioneer® manufacturer code: V3520170, model 5894BK. Also available in orange (VP5892) and yellow (VP5894J).

Design of the black Flame-Gard coat in reinforced polyurethane
The coat's outer shell is reinforced flame-retardant polyurethane coated on a polyester membrane, meeting the strictest safety standards. It is 100% waterproof, resistant to oil and chemicals, and features a very wide removable hood, a full-length zipper with a snap storm flap, and flame-resistant retroreflective stripes for better visibility in the dark. Its 4-way stretch fabric ensures optimal comfort, even during extended shifts.
Dual protection: fire and rain, with the discretion of black
This coat protects against fire, burns and heat thanks to its flame-retardant materials, and keeps you dry thanks to its waterproof coating that resists rain, snow and liquid splashes. The black shade is popular for its style and because it hides dirt better; its reflective stripes ensure visibility in low light.
CGSB 155.20 flame-resistant and CSA/ANSI class 1 low-visibility classification
CGSB 155.20-2000 type 3: Canadian standard defining performance requirements for workwear protecting against unexpected exposure to hydrocarbon flash fires.
CSA Z96-22 class 1 level 2: intended for workers operating in low-risk areas such as parking lots and warehouses.
ANSI/ISEA 107-20 class 1 type O (Off-Road): type O designates garments providing daytime visibility, not designed for optimal visibility in low light, intended for off-road use. Here, retroreflective stripes on a black background distinguish this coat. Black garments are not commonly used for high visibility; they are mainly chosen for aesthetic reasons or to better conceal dirt.

The silver retroreflective stripes are highly visible in low natural or artificial light because they return light toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.). They provide maximum safety at dawn, dusk and at night, but do not increase visibility in full daylight. For work near road traffic, choose a high-visibility orange or yellow model instead.

Restrictions and care of the Pioneer flame-resistant coat
Restrictions: this coat is a low-visibility garment (class 1 type O), not recommended for work near fast road traffic. Store it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Replace it if it shows signs of wear, tearing, perforation or burns, or if the reflective stripes lose their effectiveness. Care: hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, inside out to reduce abrasion. Do not use bleach, fabric softener or a tumble dryer.
