For an electrician locking out several breakers in the same panel, a maintenance mechanic locking several valves on a line or a maintenance crew connecting nearby isolation points. The cable passes through each point to be locked, then the device is padlocked under the facility's lockout program.
Before each use, inspect the full length of the cable and check that it slides and locks properly in the body. Wipe the device after use, keep the label legible and store it dry. Remove from service a device with a frayed or kinked cable or a cracked body.
The cable is 6 ft long.
It is a stranded steel cable with a 1/4 in diameter.
The body is made of a polycarbonate and PBT blend (Xenoy™).
It locks out several points with one cable, for example several breakers in a panel or several valves.
No. The device is sold alone; plan for a lockout padlock.
This Master Lock device is made in the United States.
For a mechanic preparing to lock out several valves before line maintenance, plan for a Delta Plus Independence Class E helmet (TA14LR), an orange Pioneer flame-resistant coverall (V7705) and, depending on the task, clear Pyramex Legacy glasses (YA10910), clear anti-fog Pyramex Proximity glasses (YA169) or anti-fog Milwaukee Performance YA8732040 (YA8732040). This PPE is worn during preparation and maintenance; it never replaces de-energizing the equipment.
To close the cable and complete the lockout, see the long-shackle laminated steel padlock (CA1LH), the faucet handle locking device (CAV7), the ball valve lockout (CAV8), the pneumatic lockout (CAP1) and the English-only electrical padlocking and tagging kit (CAE5).
