This portable and collapsible work enclosure includes a battery-powered HEPA air scrubber, making it an all-included containment unit for work under negative pressure. Its purpose is to prevent the airborne spread of dust and hazardous particulates (such as asbestos, silica, mold and bacteria) during inspection, maintenance, renovation, abatement and decontamination work.

Application of the containment zone:

1. Unfolding the structure: Unfold the aluminum structure to its maximum height (up to 3.1 m) using the ratchet posts. Make sure the base is stable using the lockable castors.

2. Cabin installation: Unfold the fire-retardant vinyl panels and adjust the shutters to access work areas (walls, ceilings). Transparent windows provide plenty of natural light.

3. Activate purifier: Switch on the battery-powered HEPA air purifier to create negative pressure inside the enclosure. This prevents toxic particles (asbestos, mold, silica) from escaping into the environment.

4. Safe use: Wear your personal protective equipment (PPE), make sure the non-slip floor is clear, and use the openings provided for passing tools or conduits2.

5.Cleaning and storage: When you're finished, use the built-in drain to evacuate liquids, clean surfaces, then fold the structure for easy transport.

Containment booth:

The HEPA ZONE 24 cabin is made of self-extinguishable blue vinyl panels with heat-sealed seams. The cabin entrance is located on the side of the enclosure and is 25" (63 cm) wide. The two wide walls and the cabin top open fully to access work surfaces on walls or ceiling. The cabin has clear vinyl windows on all four sides to allow ambient light into the enclosure. The two side windows also open to act as access panels. The outside of the cabin has a 16" x 20" (40 cm x 50 cm) clear vinyl pouch for warning signs.

Collapsible booth structure:

The HEPA ZONE 24 has a collapsible frame made of powder-coated aluminium. When collapsed, the enclosure frame is only 17" (0.4 m) high. The ratcheted vertical rods extend to up to 10 feet tall (120", 3.1 m).

Mobile containment base:

The HEPA ZONE 24 enclosure is fully mounted on a yellow powder-coated aluminium wheeled base with four 5" locking swivel casters and a removable handlebar. The floor of the enclosure has an anti-skid finish for added safety, especially when using stepladders. A 3" (7.6 cm) ridge around the floor perimeter keeps dust and debris from spilling out of the enclosure. The enclosure floor includes a 2" (5.1 cm) evacuation drain.

Integrated air scrubber:

The HEPA ZONE 24 has an integrated battery-powered HEPA air scrubber (fan filter unit), with an airflow capacity of 300 cfm (145 L/s). When in use, the air scrubber has a noise level of 48 dB. The air scrubber is supplied with one HEPA filter and one prefilter. For filter replacement, see the SAH12F HEPA filter and the SAH12PF prefilter.

Note: The air scrubber's airflow must be strong enough to ensure sufficient air changes for the entire volume of the work area. The work area volume includes the volume of the enclosure itself as well as any areas accessed during work. For example, if removing drop ceiling tiles creates an opening into a plenum space, then add the volume of the plenum space to the volume of the HEPA ZONE 24 enclosure. Purifier power supply:

The HEPA ZONE 24 air scrubber is powered by two rechargeable 12V 22A batteries. An included power gauge indicates when to recharge the batteries. The manufacturer recommends recharging the batteries regularly, preferably each time the enclosure is not in use. The manufacturer warns that allowing the batteries to fully discharge will damage them, just as with car batteries.  For extended work, the air scrubber can also run from a conventional power outlet with the included 6-foot hospital-grade power cord. When fully recharged the batteries have an autonomy of 16 hours.
