Ergodyne manufacturer code: 16840, model N-Ferno 6840. A safety helmet protects the head from impacts, not from the cold: this liner fills the gap. It keeps the head and ears warm throughout the shift with two insulating layers, a water-resistant PU-coated polyester fabric with a durable finish that resists abrasion, and an incredibly soft 100% polyester fleece lining for all-day comfort. Lightweight and low-profile, it is designed to be worn under a compatible hard hat, and its short cut stops at the chin. Check that the liner is compatible and does not compromise the fit of the hard hat.
The PU-coated fabric stops moisture from snow, and the fleece lining keeps warmth against the head. The elastic forehead rim keeps the liner snug to trap heat and keep cold out. A hook and loop chin strap holds it in place, and four exterior hook and loop straps attach to the safety helmet suspension. Unisex and one size, it fits most safety helmets.
| Measurement, liner laid flat | Value |
|---|---|
| Thickness | 0.5 in (1.27 cm) |
| Length | 9.5 in (24.13 cm) |
| Width | 9 in (22.86 cm) |
These measurements describe the liner itself, laid flat, not its packaging. They are published by a distributor; Ergodyne confirms the short, chin-length cut.
It is important to note that black work clothing is not commonly used for high visibility, because it is not as visible as fluorescent or bright colours. Black is mainly chosen for aesthetic reasons or to better hide dirt.
This black liner has no retroreflective stripes and no high-visibility class: near traffic, wear it with high-visibility clothing.
Ergodyne designs this liner for those who must wear a hard hat in the cold, in construction, freight, mining and more. To also cover the neck, choose the Ergodyne N-Ferno 6842 long winter liner (VNF6842), offered on its own listing.
This liner protects against cold; it is not flame-resistant and does not replace impact protection, which remains the role of the hard hat. It claims no certification.
Ergodyne states it is machine washable. Wash it on the delicate cycle in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent, without bleaching agents, chlorine bleach or fabric softener, then let it air dry away from sunlight, without a dryer or ironing. Replace it when the fleece is worn or the hook and loop straps no longer hold.
This is the short, regular-length model: it covers the head and ears down to the chin. To also protect the neck, choose the Ergodyne N-Ferno 6842 long winter liner (VNF6842), which goes down to the shoulders.
With four exterior hook and loop straps that attach to the hard hat suspension, and a hook and loop chin strap.
