French "Danger chute de glace" - which translates to "Danger Falling Ice" - sign of various sizes and different materials: PVC, aluminium or self-adhesive vinyl. English and bilingual signs also available when local regulations allow it. Two-face signs (V-shaped) and signs perpendicular to the wall (L-shaped) are also available; of course, they come only in PVC or aluminium. You can select an optional UV-protecting lamination to preserve the colours longer; for superior visibility, you have an alternative between a retro-reflective pigmentation and a photoluminescent coverage. Sizewise, 6”x9” and 8”x12” are the most common sizes sold, but any other format can be cut as long as a special order has been placed. Contact Sylprotec for signs in another language, for custom-made signs or if you want one of the options listed above.
The Act Respecting Occupational Health And Safety, more specifically section 51, requires that any employer takes the necessary measures to protect the health and ensure the safety and physical well-being of his worker. Although not mandatory, displaying safety signs is quite recommended to indicate the position of potential sources of danger. CSA signs are so well outlined and deliver so swiftly the message you wish to spread that whatever the danger, they will make one spare woe and sorrows regardless of one’s language abilities. Mother Nature may sometimes act like she thinks she’s Vlad the Impaler and creates awe-inspiring icy stalactites, but let’s keep the gruesome figure in the past and identify falling ice risk properly.
CSA signs cover a wide range of circumstances due to their many pictograms, symbols, and captions that allow a plethora of combinations regardless of the areas of activity. Signs in compliance with the applicable CSA standards convey a warning message that states which regulation is in effect in a hazardous situation. The "Danger chute de glace" sign displays a red triangle that generally indicates immediate harm or death.
Choosing a sign depends on several factors which have to be included in the equation: the ideal material for your workplace, the distance at which the sign will be seen which pins down the size of signs, the way the work environment is shaped which determines the format of signs –let’s say in a hallway, one usually finds an L-shaped sign, but in a wide room or at the junction of a T-shaped corridor, one finds a V-shaped sign since it allows an 180 degree perspective.
PVC signs can either be displayed inside or outside. Please note that if your sign is exposed to UV-light, colours will fade faster. UV-protecting lamination will slow down the process of fading but the colours will ultimately disappear. Aluminium signs suit a better purpose outside; of course, they can be displayed indoor, especially in an environment where an adverse impact is likely. Self-adhesive vinyl signs work just fine outside but are better fitted for indoor places.
