3M rechargeable intrinsically safe Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) battery pack which supplies 4.8 volts DC. RBP/17IS provides up to 8 hours of run time. Sold individually.
This battery pack low voltage makes it suitable for abatement and decontamination work because it poses a very low risk of spontaneous ignition if in presence of explosive or flammable dust in the work area. This battery pack may be used with 3M Powerflow equipment provided that one uses the compatible 3M HEPA filters. RBP-17IS batteries cannot indeed supply an adequate respiratory protection if combined with activated carbon cartridges because the low voltage could not alone provide a sufficient airflow to the worker.

This same battery may be used with the Powerflow powered air purifying respirators only. It gets its NIOSH homologation when combined with the corresponding HEPA particulate filters.
RBP/17IS can withstand up to 500 charge cycles as long as charged with the R521/01/43R01 charger station.
The battery pack must never be immerged.
