The Peakworks contractor safety harness is a full-body class A and P harness designed for fall arrest and work positioning. It is equipped with 3 D-rings: 1 dorsal D-ring (class A, for fall arrest) and 2 positioning D-rings located at the hips (class P). The chest and thigh straps are joined by interlocking buckles, and the straps running from the shoulders to the hips feature an adjustment buckle. This harness is ideal for general work at heights, such as maintenance or construction, that requires reliable fall protection equipment.
Peakworks product code: V8002010 or model FBH-10000B. Meets ANSI Z359.11-2014 and CSA Z259.10-12 requirements. This harness can support a worker weighing up to 400 lb (181.4 kg), including clothing, tools and equipment.
The straps of this harness are made of stretch polyester, a material chosen because it offers better resistance to acidic chemicals than other textiles. The harness includes 5 adjustment points (2 on the legs, 2 on the torso and 1 on the chest) and a sub-pelvic strap that improves comfort during suspension. The strap ends have plastic tips to prevent fraying and to make adjustment easier, even when wearing work gloves. The identification and certification labels are sewn onto the rear strap, on the left side, to ease the management, tracking and inspection of your fall protection equipment.
This vest-style harness combines safety, comfort and durability for everyday use on job sites and in industrial settings.
The worker is responsible for performing a routine inspection before each use. During this inspection, the worker must note any sign of degradation, wear, malfunction or breakage. The harness must be replaced at the first sign of failure.
In addition, this harness should be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the worker. The required frequency varies by manufacturer: some require every 90 days, others every 180 days, or even yearly. The harder the working conditions, the more frequent the inspections should be. The recommended lifetime of a harness is 5 years. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be taken out of service.
Sylprotec offers a harness inspection service. To learn more, see the Services tab on our site.
For cleaning, use a mild soap and lukewarm water (37 °C). Do not use bleach or abrasive or chemical products. If your harness is too dirty or contaminated, it is time to replace it. Air dry, without excessive heat, in a clean environment (a clean absorbent cloth or a fan can speed up drying). Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and to any source of contamination.
Class A refers to the dorsal D-ring used for fall arrest, while class P designates the two hip D-rings used for work positioning. This harness therefore combines both functions.
It supports a worker with a total weight of 400 lb (181.4 kg), including clothing, tools and the equipment carried.
A visual inspection is required before each use by the worker, in addition to a periodic inspection by a qualified person (from every 90 days to yearly depending on the manufacturer and the conditions of use).
To complete your fall protection, also consider a self-locking carabiner (FPAM88), an anchorage sling (FPAE), a concrete connector (FPAF075N), a positioning rope (FPAC815), a scaffold chain (FPAM90), a mandatory-use sign (ECO130), a storage bag (FPBAG) and a tool strap (FPLA9900).
