Peakworks nylon rope for positioning, made of nylon 5/8 in (16 mm) wide. This rope has two standard carabiners with a ¾ in (19 mm) throat opening. The carabiners are double-locking and self-locking. This rope is designed to keep the worker out of the fall zone or for positioning. For more information, see the manufacturer's manual. Certification labels are provided at one end of the lanyard.
CAUTION: this rope is a positioning / restraint accessory — it must never be used as fall arrest equipment. A full-body harness connected to a secure anchor must always be worn in addition.
The worker is responsible for a routine inspection before each use. During this inspection, note any signs of degradation, wear, malfunction or breakage. The lanyard must be replaced if any such signs are detected.
In addition, the lanyard must be inspected by a qualified person other than the worker. The frequency varies by manufacturer: some require an inspection every 90 days, others every 180 days, or even yearly. These inspections should be performed more often in extreme working conditions. The recommended lifetime of a lanyard is 5 years; a lanyard used regularly and neglected in storage or maintenance will not last long. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be scrapped.
Sylprotec offers a safety equipment inspection service. Find out more on the Services tab on our site.
For cleaning, use a gentle soap and lukewarm water (37°C). Do not use bleach, chlorine or other abrasive or chemical products. If your lanyard is too dirty or contaminated, it is time to replace it. Air dry without excessive heat, in a clean environment; you can accelerate drying with a clean absorbent wipe or a fan. Avoid exposure to sunlight and to any sources of contamination.
No. It is a positioning / fall restraint rope. It holds the worker in place or keeps them out of the fall zone. A full-body harness connected to a secure anchor must always be worn in addition.
A routine inspection by the worker is mandatory before each use. An inspection by a qualified person is also required, at a frequency ranging from 90 days to one year depending on the manufacturer and the severity of the working conditions.
The recommended lifetime is 5 years, but it depends on use, storage and maintenance. Any equipment that has withstood a fall or impact must be immediately taken out of service, regardless of its age.
To build a complete positioning system, first see the lumbar-support positioning belt (FPA805) that this rope connects to, and the Miller steel positioning chain (FPAM90) as a metal option. A full-body positioning-ring harness (FPH2000APLE) remains mandatory as basic protection.
Under "Accessories" at the bottom of the page, complete your equipment with the Peakworks class A contractor harness (FPH2000A), the quick-connect Koala harness (FPH-Koala), the tool strap (FPLA) and the Peakworks storage bag (FPBAG).
