The Peakworks anchor sling is a flexible anchorage connector designed for the fall protection of workers at height. Made from ¼ in (6 mm) galvanized steel cable, 7 x 19 construction, PVC coated, it resists abrasion, corrosion and weather. Its two swaged eyes let you wrap it around a solid structure (beam, pillar, tree) to create a reliable temporary anchorage point. Peakworks manufacturer codes: V8208004, model AS-210004 (4 ft). Sold individually.
It is designed to withstand static forces of 5000 lb (22 kN), in compliance with the CSA Z259.12 and ANSI Z359.1-2007 standards. The manufacturer's maximum recommended load is 310 lb (140 kg), including the worker, clothing and tools. It is available in 4 ft (1.22 m) or 6 ft (1.83 m) — choose the size from the drop-down menu above.
Rugged and versatile, this sling creates a temporary anchorage point on almost any solid structure, while resisting outdoor environments thanks to its PVC-coated galvanized steel cable.
Choose a reliable structure able to support at least 5000 lb (beam, pillar, sturdy tree). Wrap the cable around the structure, then pass one end through the other to form a choker and create a solid anchorage point. Then connect your lanyard, harness or fall arrest device with an approved connector. As with any fall protection anchorage point, assess the fall distance, the free clearance below the worker, the rescue measures and the anchor strength (5000 lb). Never install the sling on an unstable structure or one unable to support the required load.
The worker is responsible for a routine inspection before each use: look for any sign of corrosion, frayed wires, deformation, cut or wear on the cable and at the ends. Remove the sling from service at the first sign of failure. It must also be inspected periodically by a qualified person other than the worker; the more demanding the conditions, the more frequent the inspection. The slings carry certification labels. Sylprotec offers a fall protection equipment inspection service; see the Services tab.
Here are the most frequent questions about the use, capacity and installation of this galvanized cable anchor sling.
It creates a temporary, secure anchorage point on a solid structure, to which a harness, lanyard or approved fall arrest device connects.
It withstands static forces of 5000 lb (22 kN) and suits a worker with a maximum weight of 310 lb (140 kg), equipment included.
The sling is available in 4 ft (1.22 m) or 6 ft (1.83 m). Select the size from the drop-down menu above.
To build a complete fall protection system, this sling combines with the rest of the protection chain. Depending on the support and the type of work, you will choose the right anchor, then the associated equipment — including the variant with two O-rings (FPAECG).
Also consider a class A harness (FPH1000A), a panic-lock grab (FPACC), a vertical lifeline rope (FPAC), the complete roofer kit (FPK50), a stainless permanent anchorage connector (FPA826), a temporary concrete anchor (FPAF075N), a fixed anchorage connector (FPA822) and a storage bag (FPBAG).
