Wall hanger brackets for Pyrene brand 10 lb (4.5 kg) dry chemical portable fire extinguishers.
This model of bracket is compatible with Pyrene models of fire extinguishers manufactured between 1984 and 1998. Please contact our customer service to discuss compatibility.
Specifications:
Albeit the manufacturer’s notice that his product was designed for Pyrene brand 10 lb dry chemical portable fire extinguishers, the thing to remember is that as long as the cylinder of the extinguisher fits right once hooked, you’re on the right track. Moreover, whenever one says something about pounds, they meant about the content, not the total weight of the extinguisher. Brackets are designed accordingly to the gross weight of the extinguishers.
Please note that we offer this model of brackets in another size (see item CP20). The wider the extinguisher’s cylinder is, the longer the hanger bracket must be. Once installed, the extinguisher shall be in a perfectly vertical position. If the hanger bracket is too short for the cylinder to be hooked, the extinguisher will be in diagonal on the wall.
Placement:
According to the NFPA 10 standard for portable fire extinguishers, the operational readiness of these pieces of equipment is crucial. They shall for that reason be conspicuously located in the same place; one shall never have to search an extinguisher. First response equipment shall always be located in a strategic place readily accessible and within sight. It shall, however, never be placed near a potential source of fire such as a stove and heating appliances. It shall also be installed within reach, but out of reach of children. At last, a portable fire extinguisher shall never be left standing on the floor.
Please note that every work place is different, making it impossible for us to tell on the spot what you need for a good fire protection. The equipment you need depends on the level of risk (low, moderate, or high). By experience, we know that most work places often bear many different levels of risk at the same time, it is, therefore, necessary to plan accordingly. The equipment you need also depends on the class hazard (Class A, B, C, D, or K) that may occur in your work place. Most work places bear a Class A, B, and C fire risk. In any other case, we strongly suggest that you call on Sylprotec’s fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance service.
Installation:
First, ensure that you have the right type of bracket for your fire extinguisher. A portable fire extinguisher shall always be installed on a bracket intended for the said-extinguisher. The bracket shall be firmly screwed onto the wall in such a way that the clearance between the bottom of the extinguisher and the floor is not less than 10 cm (4 in.); however, the clearance better the top of the extinguisher and the floor shall never exceed 1.5 m (5 ft.). At a height between 4 inches and 5 feet, your equipment becomes easy to handle, therefore, making your workplace more ergonomic.
Montreal fire department asserts that it is best to choose an upright position for any type of fire extinguisher. In theory, one lays down an empty extinguisher to make sure it’s easily spotted for refilling. Moreover, the great majority of portable fire extinguisher brackets allow only a vertical installation.
Maintenance:
Please note that whichever type of screws you use to set the bracket onto the wall has no impact on the hook itself unless the wrong type of screws was used for the type of wall material you have. Also, note that no clothing or any other object shall ever be suspended on the fire extinguisher.
