This type of filter is made of a fireproof and waterproof material. It is certified P100 which means it captures at least 99.97 % of the solid, liquid, oil based and non-oil based particles in the air. The letter "P" stands for "oi proof".
Use for:
These filters protect one from certain metallic vapors coming from welding, brazing, cutting and other applications which include the heating of metal. This product doesn’t protect from ozone.
They can be used for protection from processing minerals, coal, iron ore, flour and other dusty substances, and oil based liquids and sprays that do not emit harmful vapors.
They offer protection against oil based particles, radioactive particles (uranium, plutonium), heavy metals particles (lead, cadmium, arsenic), and carcinogenic particles (4,4’-Methylenedianiline (MDA)). It is highly advised to stay away from environment that exceed 10 times the permissible exposure limit set by the CNESST or any other government regulation applicable.
Biological particles:
These filters can help prevent the inhalation of certain airborne biological particles like mold, Bacillus anthracis (Anthrax), Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Tubercle bacillus Koch) the main causative agent of tuberculosis, pandemic flues (H5N1, H1N1), etc. However, it cannot eliminate the risk of contracting infection, illness or disease. Due to the nature of some contaminants, the exposure limit value of some products and byproducts haven’t been quantified by governmental agencies, thus wearing a respirator doesn’t necessarily protects you.
Do not use for:
Do not use on a beard and other facial hair or if the user suffers from a condition that prevents him from having direct contact with the respirator’s sides. One should never use a respirator regardless of the type of filters in use whenever concentrations of gases and vapors exceed 10 times the admissible limit set by the CNESST or any other regulation applicable. Avoid sandblasting and oxygen deprevated environments (an atmosphere with less than 19,5 % oxygen).
Maintenance and service life:
Since this is a disposable product, there is no maintenance. It has been design for an approximate service life of 40 hours or 30 days depending on which one comes first. These numbers are in no way a reference since every work environments are different. The manufacturer’s limitations must be followed.
