Terra 300D orange high-visibility waterproof pants with silver and yellow stripes
The Terra® 300D waterproof pants in high-visibility orange, fitted with silver retroreflective stripes framed in fluorescent yellow, protect the legs of workers exposed to rain and traffic. Made of 300-denier polyester oxford coated with polyurethane, they comply with the CSA Z96-15 class 2 level 2 standard when worn alone, and reach class 3 with the matching high-visibility jacket (VP224). Oxford 300D polyurethane waterproofing of the Terra pants
These polyester waterproof pants are made with 300-denier yarns in an oxford pattern for improved tear resistance. The inside is laminated with polyurethane for waterproofing, and all seams are taped and heat-sealed. The manufacturer rates their service life at about twenty-five washes.
Silver and yellow reflective stripes of the fluorescent orange pants
These fluorescent orange waterproof pants feature two 50 mm (2 in) wide silver retroreflective stripes framed by thin fluorescent yellow stripes, located at ankle height.
Fluorescent yellow (safety yellow-green) is highly visible in daylight and in low natural light (dawn, dusk), offering high contrast against the background. Fluorescent orange is highly visible in daylight and under strong artificial lighting. The silver retroreflective stripes return light toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.) and provide maximum safety at dawn, dusk and at night, without increasing visibility in full daylight.
Design of the Terra pants with pockets and loose fit
These pants are easily worn over warm clothing while ensuring good air circulation thanks to their loose fit. They feature pass-through side pockets and a right rear pocket protected by a hook-and-loop flap. These pants have no fly. Hook-and-loop fasteners on the sides, near the ankles, allow fitting over work or winter boots. These pants are not flame-resistant.
Tear resistance of the Terra 300D oxford weave
The polyurethane-laminated polyester oxford pants are made with 300-denier yarns, giving them a medium weight: light enough for comfort, sturdy enough for adequate protection. Terra assures that the polyester oxford knit offers very good resistance to tearing and abrasion. Oxford is a weave widely used in the garment industry, obtained by crossing a weft yarn and a warp yarn to create a characteristic grid that limits tear propagation.
Polyurethane waterproofing and limits of the lightweight rain pants
Polyurethane-coated waterproof garments are generally worn by workers exposed to low risks of chemical splashes. Polyurethane is lightweight and porous, allowing for light, breathable garments. However, during torrential rain with strong winds, it becomes saturated and loses its waterproofing: once soaked, it lets water in under the slightest pressure.
Applications of the Terra pants for traffic work
These pants are recommended for workers operating around moving vehicles: construction workers, office staff, drivers, transport employees, etc.
Care and customization of the Terra waterproof pants
Machine wash these pants on a delicate cycle in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Air-dry away from sunlight. Never tumble dry, iron or dry-clean.
