This polyester raincoat is made with 300 denier yarns in oxford pattern for better tear resistance. The interior of the coat is coated with polyurethane to make it waterproof.

All seams are taped and heat sealed. This light and flexible coat is ideal for occasional use. It is recommended for workers who are around moving vehicles: construction workers, white collar workers, drivers, transportation workers, etc.

Reflective stripes and visibility:
This waterproof jacket has alternating silver retroreflective and yellow fluorescent stripes. Each stripe is 50 mm (2") wide. This waterproof jacket has two vertical stripes in the front, two crossed X stripes in the back, a horizontal stripe at the waist and a stripe around the wrists.

The fluorescent yellow (safety yellow-green) is highly visible during the day and in conditions with little natural light, such as dawn and dusk. In most situations, it also provides high contrast with the background. Fluorescent yellow, which is lighter than orange, is more visible at night but not as visible in the dark as reflective stripes.

Fluorescent orange is very visible during the day and in conditions with a lot of artificial light. In most situations, it also provides high contrast with the background. Fluorescent orange, however, is less visible at night and in low natural or artificial light conditions, such as dawn or dusk.

Silver retroreflective tape is highly visible in low-light or artificial conditions because it reflects light back to the source of the beam (flashlight, car headlights, etc.). They therefore offer the most safety at dawn, dusk and night. They do not, however, increase visibility during the day.

Design:
This coat is easy to wear over warm clothes thanks to its loose fit. It has two inner linings that have been sewn in: the upper back lining is made of polyester mesh while the rest of the coat is covered with a finely woven polyester lining. The quality of the coat is palpable and visible.

This coat has two ventilation holes under the arms. The coat closes with a double slider plastic zipper, which is protected by a flap with snap closure.

This coat has two front pockets and two internal chest pockets. The front pockets are also protected by hook and loop closures. It has 2 grey sewn-in straps to hang the communication radio and a transparent pocket to insert an identification card. The sleeves of the coat are adjustable with hook and loop fasteners.

The hood of the coat is included. It is removable and attaches to the collar of the coat with snaps on 2 levels to better accommodate the wearing of a safety helmet. This coat is not flame resistant.

This coat is made of polyester knit fabric laminated with polyurethane on the inside and made with 300 denier yarns. In simpler terms, this coat is medium weight: light enough to offer comfort and heavy enough to offer adequate protection. By definition, 300 denier expresses the weight of 9,000 m of the yarn used, so 300 denier equals 300 g. The manufacturer Terra is not able to provide the thickness of the polyurethane lamination. However, they assure us that the Oxford polyester knit offers very good resistance to tearing and abrasion.

As far as the term Oxford is concerned, it is the type of weaving. It is widely used in the industry, especially in the garment industry. The oxford weave is obtained by crossing a weft thread (horizontal thread) and a warp thread (vertical thread) in order to create the grid aspect. These cells act as a barrier to tears that fail to propagate beyond the torn cell.

Waterproofing:
Polyurethane-coated waterproof clothing is typically worn by workers exposed to low chemical splash hazards. Polyurethane is a lightweight, porous material. It can be used to make lightweight, breathable clothing. However, during heavy rainfall and strong winds, polyurethane becomes saturated with water and loses its waterproofing properties. Once waterlogged, polyurethane allows water to penetrate the inside of the coat under the slightest pressure, such as bending or leaning against something.

Care:
This waterproof coat can be machine washed on the gentle cycle with cold or warm water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. It should also be air dried, away from direct sunlight. This coat should never be tumble dried, ironed or dry cleaned. The manufacturer assures us that this coat has a useful life of twenty-five washes.
