The 3M SecureFit H-701SFR-UV safety helmet is a non-vented Type 1 helmet, compliant with CSA Z94.1-15 and ANSI Z89.1-2014, Class G and Class E (20,000 V). Its high-density polyethylene (HDPE) shell is designed to withstand impacts, penetration, and common chemical agents on industrial job sites. It incorporates the exclusive Uvicator technology, a UV indicator that changes color when the shell is excessively exposed to sunlight, signaling that replacement is required.
3M manufacturer code: 7100266521, model: H-701SFR-UV
The patented SFR (SecureFit Ratchet) 4-point adjustment system uses Pressure Diffusion technology to distribute pressure evenly around the head, eliminating uncomfortable pressure points. The adjustment range covers head circumferences from 51 to 63 cm (6.5 to 8.5 in), making it a universal helmet suitable for the vast majority of workers. The nylon suspension is washable and replaceable. This helmet is sold individually.
Construction and civil engineering: On sun-exposed job sites, the H-701SFR-UV is ideal thanks to the Uvicator indicator that prevents use of a shell weakened by UV exposure. The Class E rating provides dielectric protection up to 20,000 V, essential for electricians and teams working near power lines.
Manufacturing and processing industry: Unexpected impacts from falling objects or lateral strikes are covered by high-performance Type 1 protection. The SFR system ensures secure retention throughout the day, even during repetitive movements.
Forestry and agriculture: The non-vented helmet and HDPE shell resistant to chemicals are suitable for environments exposed to herbicides, pesticides, or other corrosive liquids. The Uvicator is particularly useful in these prolonged sun-exposure contexts.
Energy and mining sectors: Dual Class G + Class E compliance makes it the reference choice for electrical facility maintenance teams and operators in underground or elevated environments.
The Uvicator UV indicator integrated into the HDPE shell gradually yellows when the helmet is prolonged exposed to ultraviolet rays. This color change is a clear visual signal indicating that the shell has reached its service life limit and must be replaced, even if it appears intact. It is recommended to replace any safety helmet after a significant impact, regardless of the apparent condition of the shell.
Class G (General) offers dielectric protection up to 2,200 V, while Class E (Electrical) protects up to 20,000 V. The H-701SFR-UV helmet is compliant with both classes, giving it maximum versatility in electrical environments. Only a non-vented helmet can achieve Class E - a vented helmet can never provide this dielectric protection.
The SFR (SecureFit Ratchet) system uses 4 equidistant contact points around the head, connected to a single ratchet mechanism. 3M's patented Pressure Diffusion technology evenly distributes pressure across the entire cranial perimeter, eliminating localized discomfort zones. Adjustment is easy even with thick gloves thanks to the profiled rear dial.
3M recommends replacing the helmet shell after 5 years of normal use from the date of manufacture, or immediately after any significant impact. The Uvicator indicator allows detection of premature degradation due to excessive UV exposure. The inner suspension should be replaced annually or according to wear condition. Never use a cracked, deformed, or impact-damaged helmet, even if the deformation is not visible.
For complete protection on your job sites, combine this helmet with nitrile work gloves (GL7008), SecureFit safety glasses (YASF401BG), and EARsoft earplugs (OA1250C). If your job site requires respiratory protection, this helmet is compatible with the S-960 adapter (RS960) for integrating a Versaflo PAPR. Also check out the S-655 hood (RS655) or the TR-681 PAPR cover (RVTR681) to complete your respiratory protection system.
