This material is specially designed to absorb harmful ultraviolet rays, effectively reducing the risk of glare (“flashes”) for workers. It is particularly suitable for TIG and MIG welding. Although considered flame-resistant, this material does not withstand prolonged contact with flames or molten metal. In the event of exposure, it degrades but does not ignite.

Polyvinyl Welding Protection Screen

Ago Industries manufacturer's code: SC-013- :

The Ago Industries SC-013- series welding screen is a high-end modular safety solution. Designed to absorb harmful ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) rays, it effectively prevents flash burns and photokeratitis for personnel near welding zones. This model is specifically suited for TIG, MIG, and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.

This model of welding screen is available in several formats. You can choose from several options, such as the number of panels and panel size. Please select the model that suits your needs in the box above. These welding screens are also available in other materials. Such as translucent vinyl in yellow, orange, blue, green, dark green, combined yellow and dark green and finally fire-retardant cotton. Consult the products activated by the hyperlink in green or consult the welding screen tab..

These screens delimit welding zones, protect workers and improve productivity. However, their color reduces workers' visibility, which can pose a risk, notably by making it more difficult to detect an accident quickly in the case of an isolated worker.

The panels are suspended from the frame with hooks. The screen frame is made of lightweight, corrosion-resistant tubular steel, with folding, adjustable legs.

Why Choose the SC-013- Series Welding Screen?

This isolation system stands out for its durability and industrial adaptability:

  • Certified Eye Protection: The 14 oz per square yard polyvinyl material exceeds OSHA requirements and meets the strict CPAI-84 standards (California Fire Marshall, #F191).

  • Exceptional Modularity: Customize your setup by choosing the number of panels (single, double, triple, or quadruple) and their respective dimensions.

  • Passive Fire Safety: While the material does not withstand prolonged contact with molten metal, it is flame-retardant. Under extreme exposure, it degrades without igniting, limiting fire spread.

  • Rugged and Lightweight Frame: The frame is made of lightweight, corrosion-resistant steel tubing, featuring folding and adjustable legs for optimal stability.

  • Easy Maintenance: Panels are hung from the frame with hooks, allowing for quick replacement or cleaning of vinyl sections.

Technical Specifications

Feature Details
Manufacturer Code Ago Industries SC-013-
Screen Material PVC Polyvinyl with polyester (14 oz / yd2)
Configuration 1, 2, 3, or 4 panels available
Frame Lightweight steel tubing with folding legs
Certifications OSHA, CPAI-84, Registration #F191
Properties UV and IR filtering, flame and spark resistant
Maintenance Clean with soap and water (avoid abrasives)

All vinyl panel color choices (except clear) absorb UV rays to prevent glare and burns caused by the electrical “flash”of the welding arc (photokeratitis).

Depending on specific environmental conditions, screens can also be made from other materials, such as fiberglass or aramid fiber.

Options and Accessories

  • Mobility Upgrade: Heavy-duty casters are available as an extra to turn your fixed screen into a mobile barrier.

    • 4 casters for single panel AGPR-1

    • 6 casters for double panel AGPR-2

    • 8 casters for triple panel AGPR-3

    • 10 casters for quadruple panel AGPR-4

Restrictions

  • Passive Protection: This screen provides passive protection; therefore, proper installation planning is crucial to eliminate blind spots and ensure full coverage.

  • Flame Resistance Limits: While classified as flame-resistant, these screens cannot withstand prolonged contact with open flames or molten metal. In such cases, the material will degrade without igniting.

  • Environmental Sensitivity: Exposure to extreme weather conditions, such as prolonged humidity or intense cold, may reduce effectiveness, make the material brittle, or alter its tint.

  • Visibility Risks: Darker tints significantly reduce direct visibility through the screen. This may lead to worker isolation, making it difficult to notice an accident quickly. Choosing lighter colors or combined tints can mitigate this risk.

Maintenance and Lifespan

  • Cleaning: The screen can be cleaned using mild soap and water. Avoid using abrasive agents or bleaching products.

  • Repair: It can be repaired using the AGCG004 repair kit, or by replacing specific vinyl sections or pipe components.

FAQ  Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the screen color impact safety?

Darker tints are excellent for reducing glare but decrease direct visibility through the screen. It is vital to plan the layout carefully to prevent worker isolation in the event of an accident. Lighter or combined colors are preferred for maintaining better visual contact.

2. Can a damaged screen be repaired?

Yes, you can use the AGCG004 repair kit or simply replace the damaged vinyl section or defective pipe segments.

3. Is the screen cold-resistant?

Extreme weather conditions (intense cold or prolonged humidity) can weaken the material or change its color. For an optimal lifespan, indoor use is highly recommended.
