High-visibility orange raincoat set in 150D Oxford weave and polyurethane
This 100% waterproof high-visibility orange set, made up of a jacket and bib pants, protects workers exposed to rain and traffic. Made of 150-denier Oxford weave coated with polyurethane and fitted with silver StarTech® retroreflective stripes, it complies with the CSA Z96-22 class 2 level 2 standard when the jacket is worn alone, and reaches class 3 level 2 when worn with the matching bib pants. Lightweight, flexible and breathable, it is ideal for occasional use. Available in sizes from small (S) to quadruple extra-large (4XL) via the drop-down menu above. Features of the 150D Oxford polyurethane raincoat set
The polyester jacket, lined with polyurethane on the inside, is made with 150-denier yarns in an Oxford weave, offering very good resistance to tearing and abrasion. All seams are taped and heat-sealed for waterproofing. A convenient, hangable pouch is included. The bib pants feature elastic suspenders, metal buckles and snap-button hems for a snug fit.
Reflective stripes and visibility of the fluorescent orange raincoat
This fluorescent orange waterproof jacket is fitted with 50 mm (2 in) wide silver Star Tech® retroreflective stripes: two vertical stripes at the front, two X-crossed stripes at the back, one horizontal stripe at the waist and one around the elbows.
Fluorescent orange is highly visible in daylight and under strong artificial lighting, offering high contrast against the background. It is, however, less visible at night and in low light, such as at dawn or dusk. The silver retroreflective stripes are highly visible in low light because they return light toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.). They provide maximum safety at dawn, dusk and at night, but do not increase visibility in full daylight.
Design of the Pioneer waterproof jacket and bib pants
The jacket has two flap pockets, a hem with drawstring and cord lock, and closes with a full-length heavy-duty tooth zipper. Its loose fit allows it to be worn over warm clothing while ensuring good air circulation. The hood folds into the collar. A lightweight mesh lining partially covers the upper back for added comfort and breathability.
Polyurethane waterproofing and limits of the lightweight raincoat
Polyurethane-coated waterproof garments are generally worn by workers exposed to low risks of chemical splashes. Polyurethane is a lightweight, porous material that allows for light, breathable garments. However, during torrential rain with strong winds, polyurethane becomes saturated with water and loses its waterproofing: once soaked, it lets water in under the slightest pressure, for example when bending or leaning against something.
