The Open Road® 150D Viking waterproof jacket, in high-visibility orange, protects workers exposed to rain and traffic. Made of 150-denier Trilobal® polyester coated with polyurethane and fitted with silver retroreflective stripes, it complies with the CSA Z96-15 class 2 level 2 standard when worn alone, and reaches class 3 with the matching Open Road pants (VP216). Lightweight and flexible, it is ideal for occasional use. Available in sizes from small (S) to triple extra-large (3XL) via the drop-down menu above. Viking manufacturer code: 6323JO.
This Trilobal® polyester raincoat is made with 150-denier yarns, the inside laminated with polyurethane for waterproofing. The manufacturer gives it a 5000 mm waterproof rating: the jacket withstands a 5 m water column before the first drops pass through the fabric. All seams are taped and heat-sealed.
This fluorescent orange waterproof jacket is fitted with 50 mm (2 in) wide silver retroreflective stripes: two vertical stripes at the front, two X-crossed stripes at the back, one horizontal stripe at the waist and one around the wrists.
Fluorescent orange is highly visible in daylight and under strong artificial lighting, offering high contrast against the background. It is less visible at night and in low light. The silver retroreflective stripes return light toward its source (flashlight, vehicle headlights, etc.) and provide maximum safety at dawn, dusk and at night, without increasing visibility in full daylight.
The jacket closes with a plastic tooth zipper protected by a hook-and-loop (Velcro®) storm flap. The sleeves feature Velcro® straps to adjust the opening width. Its loose fit allows it to be worn over warm clothing while ensuring good airflow through four large flap-protected ventilation openings and two large flap pockets. The detachable hood adjusts with an elastic drawstring and removes via snaps at the collar. A lightweight flame-retardant mesh lining covers the upper back for added comfort. This jacket is not flame-resistant.
Trilobal® is a weave type similar to the Oxford widely used in industry, but about four times stronger. Where Oxford crosses a weft yarn and a warp yarn to create a grid, Trilobal® uses a triple weave of coupled yarns forming cells rather than a grid. These cells act as a barrier to tears, which cannot propagate beyond the torn cell. The result: lightweight yet robust protection, highly resistant to tearing and abrasion.
Polyurethane-coated waterproof garments are generally worn by workers exposed to low risks of chemical splashes. Polyurethane is lightweight and porous, allowing for light, breathable garments. However, during torrential rain with strong winds, it becomes saturated with water and loses its waterproofing: once soaked, it lets water in under the slightest pressure.
This jacket is recommended for workers operating around moving vehicles: school crossing guards, drivers, transport employees, etc.
Machine wash this jacket on a delicate cycle in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Air-dry away from sunlight. Never tumble dry, iron or dry-clean.
The manufacturer rates it at 5000 mm, meaning resistance to a 5 m water column before infiltration.
It complies with CSA Z96-15 class 2 level 2 when worn alone, and reaches class 3 with the matching Open Road pants (VP216).
The jacket is available from small (S) to triple extra-large (3XL), subject to available stock. Select your size from the drop-down menu at the top of the page.
