Professional asbestos fiber sealer – safety, performance, and compliance

Manufacturer code FIBERLOCK: 7475

Ensure the safety of your asbestos abatement sites with Fiberlock Fiberset PM, a transparent surface sealer designed to lock down residual asbestos fibers after removal work. This professional-grade product is ready to use, easy to apply, and meets the highest standards of safety and performance. Ideal for contractors specializing in decontamination, it ensures a clean and controlled environment.

Fiberlock Fiberset PM is a pre-mixed sealer to be applied to surfaces after asbestos fiber removal work has been completed. The transparent finish (7475) is available, while the white (7470) or blue (7480) finishes are available by special order. Sold in 20L/5 US gallon containers.

Product features of Fiberlock Fiberset PM:

Fiberlock Fiberset PM is a water-based, 100% acrylic resin sealer, solvent-free, designed to encapsulate microscopic asbestos fibers after removal. It forms a flexible and durable barrier that prevents particles from becoming airborne again. This product is UL classified under ASTM E-119 and is compatible with most floor covering adhesives. It is available in a 20-liter (5 US gallon) format and in a transparent version, ideal for visible surfaces.

How to install the asbestos fiber sealer:

Fiberlock Fiberset PM should be applied using airless spray equipment, with a pressure of 1700 to 3000 PSI and a tip size of 0.015 to 0.021 inches. The product must be thoroughly stirred before use to achieve a uniform consistency. No dilution is required. Application should be done at a minimum temperature of 7°C (45°F). On smooth surfaces, coverage is approximately 500 sq. ft. per gallon, and 350 to 500 sq. ft. per gallon on porous surfaces. Drying time is 1 to 2 hours at 21°C (70°F) with 50% humidity.

How to maintain the sealer after application:

Once applied and dry, Fiberlock Fiberset PM requires no special maintenance. However, it is recommended to regularly inspect the integrity of the sealed surface, especially in high-traffic areas or those subject to temperature fluctuations. If needed, an additional coat can be applied under the same conditions as the initial application. Tools should be cleaned with warm soapy water before the product dries.

Precautions Store in a dry place at temperatures between 4.5°C (40°F) and 32°C (90°F). Approved respirators must be used to avoid inhaling asbestos fibers that may be present in the air. Protective clothing must be worn. Before applying this product, all applicable EPA, OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations must be considered.

Usage tips for effective encapsulation:

To maximize the effectiveness of the sealer, it is recommended to apply it immediately after asbestos removal, before any final cleaning operations. When used to suppress airborne fibers, stand in the center of the room and spray a fine mist toward the ceiling, covering the entire area. It is essential to follow all applicable regulations (EPA, OSHA, local standards) and to use appropriate personal protective equipment, including an approved respirator and protective clothing.
