The 5 cm (2 in) Elastic Support Bandage is an essential tool for treating minor musculoskeletal injuries. Often referred to as a "Tensor-type bandage," this reusable wrap is designed to provide consistent compression and firm support to stressed joints and muscles. It is a staple for sports first aid kits, physiotherapy clinics, and workplaces where sprains or strains are common risks.
You'll also find this model in 7.5 cm X 5 m (PS404), 10 cm X 5 m (PS405) or 15 cm X 5 (PS406).
Don't let wounds slow you down.
Unlike standard gauze bandages, an elastic bandage exerts active pressure that helps reduce swelling (edema) and stabilizes injured joints without completely restricting movement. The 2-inch format is specifically suited for smaller joints such as the wrist, ankle, or elbow. Its durable design allows it to be washed and reused, making it an economical and sustainable solution for physical rehabilitation. Whether for post-operative support or preventing injury during physical activity, this bandage offers the versatility needed for a safe recovery.
Superior Elasticity: Provides adjustable compression based on the tension applied during wrapping.
Compact Format: 5 cm width is ideal for precision on narrow limbs (wrists, hands, ankles).
Breathable Material: Allows the skin to breathe, reducing heat and moisture buildup.
Reusable: Hand-washable to maintain hygiene throughout the healing process.
Fasteners Included: Sold with clips or closure systems for quick and easy installation.
For maximum effectiveness, begin wrapping below the injured area and move upward (toward the heart) to promote venous return. Apply firm but comfortable tension; the bandage should support without cutting off circulation. Ensure each layer overlaps the previous one by approximately half the width of the bandage. Secure the end with the provided clips or medical tape. Important: If you experience tingling, numbness, or if the skin turns blue, loosen the bandage immediately.
To extend the life of your bandage, hand wash it in lukewarm water with mild soap. Avoid vigorous wringing; instead, press it into a towel and lay it flat to air dry. Do not use a dryer, as intense heat degrades the elastic fibers. Once dry, roll it up firmly so it is ready for its next use.
This bandage is ideal for applying the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). It can also be used to hold ice packs in place on an acute injury. For workers performing repetitive motions, it provides preventive support that helps reduce muscle fatigue.
Most standard elastic bandages contain latex to provide stretch. If you have a known allergy, check the label or opt for a version specifically identified as "latex-free."
It is generally discouraged to wear a tight compression bandage overnight, as blood circulation naturally slows down during rest. Consult a healthcare professional for specific recommendations.
A support bandage (Tensor) requires clips or tape to stay in place and is washable/reusable. A cohesive bandage (like Coban) sticks to itself, is often single-use, and is not typically washable.
