ASTM/ANSI A5, abrasion 3 compliance and CFIA food approval of the SureKnit™ glove

According to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards, this glove has a cut resistance of level A5 and an abrasion resistance of level 3. It is also approved for food handling by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Features of the AlphaSan®-treated SureKnit™ Dyneema® glove

This SureKnit™ series glove is made of highly resistant composite Dyneema® fibers — stronger than steel weight-for-weight — that do not lint. It is therefore comfortable, lightweight and does not hinder tactile sensitivity, while providing outstanding protection against cuts and abrasion; it even allows the handling of touchscreen devices. In addition, the AlphaSan® treatment, a silver-based antimicrobial agent, reduces bacterial proliferation, making it ideal for food use.

Dyneema® properties for cut resistance

Dyneema®, also called ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), is weight-for-weight 15 times stronger than steel and twice as strong as Kevlar®. It offers excellent abrasion and impact resistance, good chemical resistance, resists moisture well and, unlike Kevlar®, resists UV rays. It provides excellent protection against mechanical hazards such as friction, abrasion and elongation.

Applications of the A5 glove in food processing and solar panel manufacturing

This glove is recommended for workers in meat and food processing plants, solar panel manufacturing plants, as well as for the handling of sharp parts.

Restrictions of the uncoated SureKnit™ glove

Dyneema® has a low heat resistance. This glove only offers limited protection against cuts, tears and punctures: it cannot eliminate the risk of injuries and lacerations. Since it is not coated, it is not intended to be immersed in liquids.

Maintenance and lifetime of the washable SureKnit™ glove

Basic maintenance is recommended to extend the life of your gloves. Simply wash them in cold water at 85°F/30°C with a mild detergent, then rinse them in cold water before drying. You can then machine dry them at low temperature. Never use bleach on this glove.

FAQ about the SureKnit™ A5 Dyneema® cut resistant glove

What is the cut resistance level of the GS13GDSTL glove?

It offers ASTM/ANSI A5 cut resistance and level 3 abrasion resistance.

Is it approved for food handling?

Yes. It is approved by the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and treated with the silver-based antimicrobial agent AlphaSan®, making it suitable for the food industry.

Can it be used on a touchscreen?

Yes. The Dyneema®/Spandex/stainless steel blend preserves tactile sensitivity and lets you tap on a touchscreen.

How do I care for it?

Wash it in cold water (85°F/30°C) with a mild detergent, rinse in cold water and machine dry at low temperature. Never use bleach.

Can it be immersed in liquids?

No. This glove is not coated; it is therefore not intended for immersion in liquids and its heat resistance is low.

Suggestions to complement your food-grade cut protection

To reinforce your food protection, combine this glove with the A7 Sure Knit food glove (GS13SXB), the A9 stainless steel chain-mesh glove FDA approved (G100), or step up with the Superior Touch Dyneema A5 glove with nitrile foam coating (GS13FGFNT) and the A9 knit glove with nitrile foam coating (GS21TXUFN).

Under “Accessories” at the bottom of the page, complete your equipment with the A5 impact TenActiv glove (GSTXFNVB), the Dexterity NT cotton glove with nitrile coating (GS15NT), and protect your forearms with the level 2 Cutban sleeve (VSKPW14TH) or the level 3 Kevlar sleeve (VS21).
